I was over the moon when I finally found a new model Surge off of ebay. Well it came in..and guess what. It is of the older model.  :rant:

I just emailed the seller and will see where this goes.  :facepalm:

Probably the guy said "new" referring it was new in box, if that was the case you should be preparing a voddoo doll right now, i hate when sellers take advantage like that.  :twak:

Did he post a pic of the new model surge? If he did then double  :twak: :twak:


Hope he apologies and send the proper one right away.

sorry to hear it, Chako. I hate it when items are misrepresented on ebay or other sites. :rant:

hopefully this was an honest mistake and you can get it sorted out quickly.

Most likely seller ignorance.  Never trust stock photos for sure.

Yeah, well I am rather angry at the moment. If someone post an image...I expect what is in that image...stock photo or not. Well I have messaged the seller and time will tell on how this is going to go.

I had the same thing when I was buying a powerlock.  The stock pic was one with gear covers, but i got one without, and was annoyed.  He ended up having both though so I returned it.

Good luck with this.  It may be trickier with you in Canada if it's a US seller.  If you paid with paypal, you are covered, since it is NOT the tool represented.

Yes it is a US seller. I am not worried though. Worst case scenario...I get to keep this Surge and give the seller a very bad rating. More annoyed than anything else. I have been trying to acquire a copy of the new Surge for ever it seems...with no luck.

I hope this gits resolved quickly,  I know it is frustrating.

I saw one ebay post that had 4 pictures of the new Surge, and the last photo showed the old Surge plier head?   :think: :think:

if it's any comfort, the tracking info indicates that your new BO Surge has cleared customs and should be in your hands soon. :D

That is great news Matt. Looks like my hunt for a stainless new model Surge is ongoing.

As for the posting on eBay...

Discussions are ongoing and not looking very good. Seller claims she sees no difference between the two. My main hope at this point is that she still has the new Surge and we can do an exchange. I want that new Surge so bad.  :facepalm:

It seems as it could have been an honest mistake on her end, grabbing the wrong one to to ship.  If she can't see the difference, you should crop the two pics to the plier heads and highlight the differences.

It shouldn't be hard to sort out.. If you used paypal, look up how long you have to file a dispute, and if she's being difficult about her obvious mistake file the dispute.  If it passes that day you're out of luck through paypal though. 

it's clearly a mistake, I doubt she did it intentionally.  Just explain to her the difference of the newer model, and that you either want an exchange for the correct model, or a full refund to include your shipping expense to send it back to her.  She may be able to email you a prepaid return label.

at that point it will be the new surge again.

I just hope you get your money or the tool you actually paid for. I know a friend of mine was screwed over by some seller in the UK

Now if she can't tell the difference between the 2 tools then I'd say she was going in with a screw you over face

I would give it one more go, pointing out the clearly different pliers with replaceable cutters.  I would also mention that you will be forwarding this all to paypal to have the charges reversed AND that you would be notifying ebay that she used deceptive advertising.  When you pointed it out, she denied it.

That's complete BS. >:(

The fact the one in the listing has replaceable cutters and the word NEW written across the top corner isn't a clue? ::)  I hope you get it sorted mate.
