Nice! Switching it up a bit, I see :tu:

Thanks! Yeah, switching it up. As much as I love the Trident Elite, the Vulcan still reins supreme.

I can definitely see that! That Vulcan =

Speaking of your Trident Elite, how do you like the Tanto blade? I have two M16's now, both with tanto's, and I think I prefer a drop point, at least for an everyday, general purpose blade. I'm thinking of replacing my -10ks for a -01ks. For some reason I don't mind the tanto on my -12ze er as much, but I also don't carry it everyday like I do my -10ks

I love the tanto blade as an EDC blade. Very useful. Or it is on the Trident Elite. Kinda like having a regular blade but it can be used as a sheep's foot blade only you can push or pull cut. Also allows the blade to have two different edge angles. I run the tip at a steeper angle than the base. Give you a lot of options. At least for me anyways.

Ahh, that's a good idea :tu: I will try the same with my -10ks before I decide to replace or not.

While I haven't done the two different angles, I noticed a huge improvement in overall cutting ability when I reprofiled my -10kz to 20 degrees on each side. I also rounded off the joint a bit between the two edges, but that was more of a personal preference.

(btw, the correct terminology is 20 degrees inclusive, right? A quick explanation would be great, if anyone wouldn't mind).

Another really good suggestion :salute: I don't love the hard angle b/t the two edges - a little bit of rounding would be nice. I don't have a clue how I would do that, though. How did you achieve this?

I would also prefer a hollow ground edge to the chisel, but it's not a deal breaker for me

You have an older one with the chisel grind? You are gonna have your work cut out for you. The newer ones come with a v grind now.

I used a standard Lansky set, and spent a lot of time with the coarse 150 grit stone. If you want to do this, and if its in your budget, I really recommend you get a the diamond version of the coarse (150 grit) stone (pr even the whole diamond set). It cuts a lot faster, and will save you a lot of time.

Pocket Power Plier around the plants today

Due to the compound leverage it can easily trim and cut small flowers, branches and twigs.

Easy to clean when full of dirt and stuff, also!

I carried the PowerDuo earlier today.  The tools it has are nice.  I love my Power Lock and I really wanted to love the Power Duo as well.  I can't do it.  It's just a poorly thought out and badly executed design that came out of the package with cracked scales, and it desperately needs a pocket clip to be the least bit redeemable and it doesn't have one.  It doesn't even have a lanyard hole, so it just sits in the bottom of your pocket where it applies uncomfortable pressure against your leg when you walk.  At least it does for me.

It is fatter and more uncomfortable in a pocket than a Rebar, a Spirit, and even the mighty Power Lock, and yet it has less overall usefulness than any of them.  Therefore, it serves no purpose, and I will throw this in a desk drawer and ignore it until I decide in a few years to sell it.

I'm going to pocket carry my Power Lock for a couple of days to remind myself that SOG can build a quality product that not only carries well in a pocket, but actually has the full assortment of tools one might need.

Yea, it's just not a well thought out tool. Bigger than a PowerLock, but with PPP plier-head. Only a few implements. Only option for carry is a bulky (but nice) sheath or to let it free-float in the pocket. SOG really wiffed with the PowerDuo. Big time.

OK, I know I said I was going to throw the Power Duo in a drawer and forget about it, but I keep grabbing the damn thing when I need something less than a full size tool.  In the last couple of days I've used it to clear a jam in a paper shredder and pull a piece of a broken plug out of a charging port.  The smaller sized and very pointy needle nosed pliers have come in handy.  I still don't want to carry it, but it has been the right tool to grab off my desk for the quick jobs that don't require a wider assortment of tools ever since I bought it.  Might not be so bad to carry if I had a slip sheath with a dangler so it didn't have to sit in the bottom of my pocket. Maybe SOG with offer something like that in the future.  I won't recommend it and I won't buy another one, but this one will continue to sit on my desk instead of getting buried in a drawer.
