Just received a new pipe smoker's knife by Medico Japan.  It was an E-bay find and it was as new.

Cool! Although... I wonder if she's just trying to get you to sit somewhere quiet and don't try to "repair" anything around the house..

OMG PLEASE!! I still have to do work downstairs, I mean I repainted the dining room, laid all hardwood flooring, to make it more into one, painted the ceiling and cabinets in the bathroom, then completely remodeled the kitchen, the only thing that’s the same is the floor, three windows, and one built in spice cabinet, oh and the ceiling, the fridge is the same but got moved! All the cabinets got ripped out the sink got moved the fridge and stove got switched, the stove got changed over from gas to electric, so she could have her flat top, and 15 cabinets went in, unlike the only 8 that came out! I just repainted the kids room, completely bent over painting the ceiling, my back is TOTALLY THROUGH THE ROOF! So I’d love a vacation from any repair, we have to go to the hardware store and place the order for the rest of the work soon, yet speaking of back wait till you see what I have coming!!

Like I said, i just got not a little something but a BIG something, I saw it online and was like ahh, that’s a good deal, so I asked the Mrs and she put a smile to it and said to ask, and sure enough the guy will be delivering it here tonight, a little late but hey, for the price I got no prob!
It’s multi types of woods, he works at a sawmill and will load a whole bed full of the scrap pieces and sell them as unwanted wood, but in our case, perfect for the fire pit out back! And it’s roughly a 1/3rd of a cord, that will last us for OMG so long! The nice thing was I had a skid in the garage that a delivery guy use to deliver something, I was going to burn it but now, well, I cut it down the center and added another 2x4 so I got something to stack it all on! Only thing is the backs not liking me! Especially every time I look at this pic!

Oh we’re stocked! It started getting so high on that skid I made we had to start stocking another row, the guy was like where do you want it? I assume on that skid? And we’re like yeah luckily he built it since you came early, and then we started pulling the wood out, then the guy was like wow, your helping, normally people don’t even help or complain on how it’s stacked,, we’re like that’s not right! But I’d say we’re pretty good for having a few fire pit nights! :D he even said some of the woods would burn for like 36hrs,,

Something else I forgot to post, I needed a mug, just something of my own for when it came time for that “you know what, I can use a cup of tea” or for after walking in from cleaning all the walkways and sidewalks. I wanted something cool, yet diff, but I just so couldn’t find anything, then I saw this for a whopping $5 and was like, cool it’s microwaveable, works for me!

Nice! I was given the BSA version of what when I started Scouts.

Ideal Tools #35-933 Quick Change Screwdriver

I am really a sucker for a decent 1/4 drive screwdrivers. I've currently got a ratcheting Felo, but some jobs warrant a non-ratcheting driver. One of our members here had shown an S&K version, but it was expensive. However, today, I found an Ideal version at Lowe's at a price considerably lower, despite basically being the same tool.  Lowe's mechanic's tools still suck, but their nice stuff is over in electrical; which is the Ideal brand.   USA-made bits in this sucker as well. Not "overseas" (but despite being made in Asia too, Wiha are about the best I've found). Most of the Ideal screwdrivers are USA-made. With Craftsman now just being a label for cheap imported tools;  and the manufacturer of their tools, Western Forge (which I mostly place on Stanley/B-D for making Craftsman into a super-cheap line) defunct; it's hard finding good quality USA made tools that don't cost a lot of money. I don't have "tool truck" money. I barely have Harbor Freight money; which I prefer to spend on "the big auction site" and at local junk shops, yard sales, flea markets, and even estate sales for older used, and maybe beat up quality American and European tools I know will outlast me.

Ideal is the parent of S&K Tools; It's exactly the same as the S&K design. It's just marked Ideal and is white where the S&K version is black. The S&K also includes just six (Phillips and Slotted) bits; while the Ideal version contains 32. Here's the kicker. The S&K version (73516), despite not including as many bits is currently "on sale" over on the S&K website for $38, down from $43 MSRP.  I paid $24 ($25 with tax) at Lowe's (a version containing entirely tamperproof bits is $27; but not sol\d at the store). So, $14-20ish more for a lesser tool, from the same company, factory, and line. You're just paying for a name.   I am hoping the screwdriver bits remain available if I lose one. These are marked the same as a ca. 2014 Craftsman mechanic's toolset that belongs to my Granddad (and serves as a backup to 1970s era Craftsman tools and remains unused); and Western Forge went under last year due to Craftsman's downfall.  I am guessing under Ideal ownership, other Ideal facilities supplied tools for the Craftsman/Sears contract. So, hopefully they are something that will still be made in the US.

Already used it to repair a toilet paper dispenser in the bathroom. Works great, and built like a tank! I also like that it has a "Quick Change" mechanism that neither fiddly nor hard to release.

My last set of models came in, I got my aviation package today, so I got the few aviation, the auto club, and a bunch of other odds and ends totaling 20, I also did a model today that wasn’t part of the package which was a checker cab, and I do have a Ford Mustang, some navy boat, and the one piece of industrial equipment I never did,, so I’d say I’m good,,

That's good. If you want something to work properly, it's the toilet paper dispenser. Well done!

.....

FWIW, Menards sells the same screwdriver branded with their Masterforce name for about $12 US.

It happened! IT HAPPENED!!!
After soo many years running after this thing, finally finally I have a Crunch now! It is the holy grail of MTs to me! I opened the package few minutes ago, gosh it is so tiny!!! I always thought it was a big, bulky, hefty tool but it's just the opposite! And it's SPRING LOADED! :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh
 :like:
And the way it folds down is poetic! It's tools are cute! Guess it is gonna be my EDC for a while now. BTW it looks like it's in mint condition and even came with a leather pouch! What more can I want? I'm gonna go away happily, if today's the last day of my life :))

Congrats on the crunch. Fantastic tool.  :like: Got one of my “holy grails” yesterday. Black Super Timer. Replaced back scale, opened tweezer slot and blacked out all the tools. If I was really brave I’d break it down and dye the magnifier, but I guess I’m not that brave after all.

Me and the Boss Lady are on vacation, for the first time, without the kids, since 1997.

Went in to one of the local tourist gift shops and saw a rack full of the wanna-be SAKs that are engraved with your name.

Asked the lady if she had a "John", nope...
"GrandPa"?,  nope...
How about "GrandDad"?,  nope, once more.

Figuring that she wouldn't have "PitCarver",  "Grumpy",  or even "A*****e", all of which I've been known to answer to,  so I said "WHATEVER", with a hint of aggregation.

GUESS WHAT?
