Leatherman meets Bosch

Nothing fancy, but I got a new metal blade for my Surge today. Unlike the wood blade, I wanted the metal blade to be short enough to be able to fold it without having to take it off (for convenience at work).

The idea about the long wood blade was to have a fully sized saw in my hiking backpack. Ideally the teeth should face the opposite way, but it works.

While we're at it, I've had the ratchet driver for about 8 months now and I absolutely love it. With Bosch bits attached (obviously), the Surge is truly a workhorse with all it's possibilities.  :salute:

Nice kit !   :like:

Finders keepers I guess.

We gave a subcontractor and the relative we contracted him through two years to come and pick up his Dewalt impact driver.  No one has shown up to claim it, despite two years of "I'll be there soon". I needed one, and I decided I might as well just keep it for myself. The guy's probably already bought a new one, as this one looks like it's on the way out. If I can get a year or two out of it, I can probably afford a new combo pack.  I'm all for being honest, but I think we've been more than generous with the time.

There was an off-brand battery in the thing, which I don't trust. But, Dewalt no longer makes 18V batteries, and aftermarket batteries from third parties are all that I can find. The adapter plus the new 20V batteries cost as much as as a combo pack with multiple tools and a charger. Grandparents have the same impact in their kit, and for the few jobs I've used it, I've used their batteries and charger.  But, looks like I'm stuck with buying a questionable off-brand battery if I want one of my own; and I'll see how the battered off-brand charges with the proper Dewalt charger.

Looks great! I have an earlier one in BO (all hardware is 1/4" hex), and when it comes to hardwire cutting, the Powerlock is far superior to any other multitool.

Thanks, cody and yes, they're the best pliers on the market for a general purpose, medium duty multi.

(And especially for me, as my arthritic hands aren't as strong as they were when gripping...)

BTW, congrats on your "new" cordless driver! :tu:

Nothing amazing but the kid uses the workstation lamp to find his way to the bathroom every night, and well he’s been complaining that it takes 20 times to get it to go out, so I had to have the Mrs order a new one but one with an outlet, cause yeah my 4ft fluorescent is plugged into the bulb part with an adapter, but so is my cordless tools battery charger, so every time I wanted to charge them I had to have the light on, but now the charger is in the plug and all set, and the shop light works nice and smoooothly!

Today was a really good day.  I got 2 packages in the mail today.  One package was from Sos24 containing the black Buck 112 Ranger and the other package was from LoopCutter with 2 Electricians that I was expecting and another Buck 112 Ranger that was a complete surprise!  Thank you Sherry and Gordon. You guys are the best!

Indeed it was! :tu: You're really going to like the 112, and those old electrician's knives are tough to beat.

Yesterday we drove to a small flea market 30 km away in a small town at the river Tauber. While my SO raided the flea market, I scouted the banks of the river, found a heron, some eurasian coots, alas none of the kingfishers like three years before. plus large amounts of apples falling from the trees caused by the draught in our region this summer.

When we returned home, she gave  me a gift she found in a "for free"-box. Normally, she's looking for china, tableware and tools for the garden, so I was rather surprised. Said she remembered the name "Richartz" from some of my knives, so she got me this OPT. Happy she finally found something for me!  :tu:

There you have the unavoidable bottle opener, a Philips and flat screw driver, two spoke wrenches for the bicycle, wrenches for 5,5, 6 and 8 mm hex bolts, a cable dismantler, two scales for 3cm and one inch, a keyring hole and perhaps a trolley release thingy. Quite an array.

Best regards and stay safe,

Wolfgang

Nope. My flea market days are over. Too much people, too much people of the wrong kind, too much cr*p I ain't interested in.

The last tool I found on a flea market was a Gerber Multi-lite some 25 years ago... or some Mag-lites from the same era...  >:D

I'd rather look on the bay or etsy ...

Wolfgang

Well not me but the kid got something, he bought himself two pairs of “vans” and the first pair came in today, the others won’t be here till Friday, so he took a few pics and I was kinda jealous, I’ve never had a pair of vans,,

Anyone into fishing? I never really got into it but when I did go I could cast very good, I could totally hit a mark! Anyway the kid has always liked fishing and has gone out a few times with his buddies the last couple days, so I saw someone giving away a two rod and reels, so I said the kid was getting into fishing and she said there his, just pick them up, so today he got them and brought them to me, I looked them over and they were tied up to each other, I cut them apart and somewhat cleaned them up, the one I tied a 3/8 nut to the end and tried casting it in the backyard but after a few times it started working, so get some fresh oil and a nice cleaning I thing that would be good, and that was the Sears one, I tried working on the other for a few min but I couldn’t get it to pull back in, so it needs some work, I looked them up online and the only info I could find was a price tag on both the reels, but nothing on the rods, the sears one has a totally matching rod, all a Ted Williams series? But the reel was listed for $75, the other reel was listed for $125, so if anyone has any info I’d be greatly appreciated,, here’s a few pics

I can't really help much, other than Ted Williams was a Sears brand. They also sold pocket knives with that name. If you can get them working, they'd likely be great users. But I never was any good with the open end jobs...

Kids other shoes came in, hey all I know is I didn’t buy them!

As for the fishing reels, for what little fishing I’ve done, I’ve like the open ones better then the thumb style,
