Another bladeless wonder  :D:

It's basically a CyberTool 41 that is 2 layers thinner minus the blades and awl.

My first “real” SAK mod: a Special Mechanic.  This one was modded from a regular Mechanic and a sacrificial cellidor Bantam.  The Bantam’s Combo Tool was drilled out after a lot of advice from Syph007 and others in this thread: http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,40793.0.html.  Since the keyring attachment point was lost with the Opener Layer backspring, a new birdhead spacer (the Tinker/Spartan style with the keyring loop) replaced the original.  Thanks to tattoosteve99 for the spacer.

The blue scales were acquired from CVW via ebay.  The Vic logo is on the cutout Phillips scale so they beg the question: are these fakes?  On every knife I’ve seen, the logo is on the non-cutout side.  These do have “Victorinox” stamped/molded in reverse relief on the inside of the tweezer slot.

Scales with the shield on the "wrong" side are usually scales meant for advertising knifes to leave the bigger space on the front scale free for printing/inlays/engraving.
They are most likely not fakes.
Yellow scales for example are in most cases the wrong way round. There are no(t much) yellow vics that are not advertising ones.

Nice mod, btw.

Made a new SAK today. I went for a Climber-style SAK without the hook, keyring, but with vintage plus scales.

I had to do it twice to get the snap perfect. But now it's at the sweet spot. :D

This time I used a hand drill to remove the bushings, worked even better than with a drill press. ::)

Probably my favorite SAK. Carried one forever. Would like to get one with an inline awl instead of the small blade. Wondered what to replace the reamer with.

Hi,

This was made by a Czech modder named Hanes. He's not a member here and Rahmed, hasn't been online in over a month to answer that question. I have this link to a Czech knife forum thread where Hanes posts his work. Maybe you could contact him through there.

After some fine tuning,
(Image removed from quote.)
I got nothing so far. I guess technically it's not really a Swiss Army "Knife" anymore lol.
I've been thinking for a few days now, why worry about having the Philips and what regular/ opener, to put on if you can have something even better such as this?? I wonder if it is posable to put it on a alox, and make it like this? JR
[can opener----knife]

That's pretty cool, but like you said, it would definitely be easier on a 93 frame! JR

This is a Victorinox Special Mechanic with Ebony Plus Scales (including needle and ballpoint pen).

I originally wanted to extend this Special mechanic with an awl, but it would have been too fat for my jeans pocket. So I sadly, sadly discarded the idea.

Again photos made by mobile phone. Sorry for the bad quality.

Thx.

Cutting the space for the ballpoint pen was something like pain in the ass. There was only 1-1.5mm left, before accidently cutting through the scales. My intention was, getting the ebony scales as flat as possible, and it worked.  :tu:

Only one thing I was thinking about is: getting the original cross into the scales (not onto them). But I tried on some dummy ebony scales (actually damaged parts), but I never got a perfect result. (i have no laser nor CNC)

Nice looking scales. I wonder, has anybody ever tried to flip the pliers on a Mechanic? It always bothered me that they open towards the keychain ring, I feel like that should open away, like the main blade.

That would require a special made opposite sided spring.
