Sorry bro, that is one off.

WOWOWOWOW.  I am a sucker for 58mm "monster" builds.  Super nice job.  Guess I'll have to bust up my pocket toolbox.

NO.  I think you have become the master and I the young jedi.

I know what a pain it is to fit tools into the 58mm size.

Really nice.

I'll say thank you.  You have inspired me to revisit another monster mod.  I built one some time ago and think I need to revisit the idea just for fun.  It won't be a carry knife!

I do like the wenger tools in that size much more than the vic.  The micro flathead and bottle opener are my 2 favorites.

Anyway, a quick video of what I am up to today.

No mods today, just a bit of prep for the next one:

Used the machine tools at work to make a clamp block for 2.2, 2.5 and 3 mm pins, cut a sheet of ABS to support the knives (I'll drill the holes to clear the rivets when I get home), turned a centre punch from a steel dowel and found some 2 mm dowels to use as pin punches.  Also ordered some 2.2 and 2.5 mm brass rod and I'll pick up a smaller ball pein hammer over the weekend. :tu:

Did a little more work on the Classic I rescaled...rounded off the edges and oiled the wood.

That's gorgeous! What type of wood is it?

I like the way your knots look too - do you do anything special to achieve that level of neatness or is it practice practice practice?

Cheers Man :salute:
I'm not sure what the wood is  it's from an old incense burner, some kind of hard wood I think...smells amazing after all it's years as an incense burner :D
The knot is the only one I'm any good at, I guess it is practice but just keeping it tight as you tie helps and once its tied you can tighten things up a bit with a few twists ;)

The knot is a Hangmans noose but Chris Reeve use's it on his knives and calls it the Reeve Coil Knot ::)

Thanks! I'm familiar with the knot but mine never look as neat as yours so I'll try your tip.

Where do you get your leather from? I have some rounded cord but it's really REALLY stiff and takes a lot of bending before it's malleable enough to be useful.

I wet the leather a little and squeeze with pliers, the pliers leave a mark that look like tassels and on this one I put a couple of slices in the end to make actual tassels :D

Been wanting to try this for a while. Reprofiled the gutting blade on a dual pro into a locking one hand electrician. Nice to have a smaller blade on a locking 111mm, so far I like it.  :)

Thanks! It's similar to a Weekender now only bigger, and locking. Now if it only had scissors and scale tools... :)

Right, here's the beginnings of the next knife:

Machining some aluminium plate down to 4mm thick.  I've been ordering tooling and parts too - 2mm ball nose end mill, 3mm TiN coated stub drill, 3mm brass rod, stainless M2 CSK torx screws, a Compact and an Explorer.  Can you guess what it's going to be? 8)

Thanks Syph! It's working great so far, slightly bigger (and heavier) than the OHT due to the additional locking liner, but still a nice carry size (in my pouch anyway).  :)

Alox Yeoman?

:tu:  Decided it would be easier to drill out the tools and use 3mm threaded pins to build a 91mm Alox-like knife than to make custom springs for a 93mm.  Easier to rebuild the knife than a peened one if I decide to change to tools too.

Bit blurry, but first test piece of the 3mm pins done:

Took way too long, but came out ok in the end.  Need to get quicker.

Been playing about with the milling pattern for the scales in CAD too:

2mm ball nose cutter, 0.25mm deep on a 2mm pitch.

Special SAK for a little girl.

This is still a work in progress, functionally it's pretty much there, but lots of finishing work still to be done. several grades of sandpaper to go and then polishing for the scales.

Pretty much everything sharp or pointy has been addressed.

Main blade replaced with a ruler

Small blade replaced with a nail file

Scissors given a round nose treatment

Can opener... may get its edge blunted, or even be ground back to a shape like a technician screwdriver. Jury still out on that one.

Awl replaced with a Wenger item, it's still there to make the backspring work, but the nail nick is inaccessible. But with a little work a cutout will make it usable again.

Corkscrew tip rounded off.

No T&T, small parts go in small mouths. Also I think it would spoil the look of the scales. (Artistic opinion, no correspondence will be entered into)

Nice one!
If you round out the Scissors, shouldn´t the Nailfile get the same treatment?
How old is the new owner?

Here's my just completed Brass Yeoman, ............the Bra-Man.

Solid brass scales, standard Yeoman tool load-out, but with the file on the Hook. Old Mag Glass and inline Phillips.Lanyard from 550 paracord, diamond knots.A toothpick lives under the hook, it's a cut-down plastic toothpick from the packets you get at a Pharmacy. The Cocoon was shrunk from electrical shrink-tubing, 22mm IIRC. Modern eyeglass screwdriver lives in the corkscrew.
The rivets were opened up to 2.5mm throughout, hand peened, all finishing on scales done with 400/600/1500 wet and dry, followed with Simichrome. Finish is not perfect, as you might expect with hand cut and finished scales, but it's quite presentable. Very solid heft with so much Brass, and great snap to the tools. Knife was assembled from parts, no Vic's were harmed during construction  :)
