@ crackout: Yes. Because the OH-blade has a 3mm hole, I drilled the saw, scissors and can opener also to 3mm to make ist work.

Best regards,

Chris

Excellent looking mod. :tu: My favorite 111mm +OH blade.

I'd call it a OH Outrider though. :D

What's the strange, small, hook just past the scissors tip in the first photo? Looks to be in the same layer.
The opened knife doesn't seem to show anything like that hook.

That's part of the phillips screwdriver, to help with extraction. The phillips rides underneath the scissors, so you first have to open the scissors to get to it and then it's too low to grab it so you use this "hook".

Slow, slow progress but the scales are finally sanded and polished and ready to send to the anodizer (who will slip them into the next run of black for a very reasonable sum):

lightning strike carbon fiber.

I've been wanting to do carbon fiber scales on my Swiss Champ for a while now. A thing of beauty there

It was far easier to work than I thought.  I will be ordering some thinner carbon fiber for 91mm mods next.

Nice. :tu: You'll still need to use liner though so the T&T don't fall out. I'd try to make the T&T grooves ride on the same scale, like on the Plus scales, just not pen and tooothpick but toothpick and tweezers. That way you'd only need the liner on one side.

Yep.  I milled down the scales to make them thinner, planning to use them without liners, then didn't like the way the corkscrew extended a long way past the scale.  So I put the liners back in and decided to cut the grooves for T+T.  What I should have done is make the shield side scale thin (2mm or so) and used no liner and then tried to get the T+T into the corkscrew side, with a liner.  Every day is a school day. :D

What thickness is that and what thickness would you recommend?

You could even mill 3 slots in one scale to accept Toothpick, pen and (shorter) tweezers like on the Vics with electronic scales.
The pattern is there on most newer scales, only theopening for the 3rd slot is left blank.
I do have some short tweezers I don´t need myself that I´d sponsor.

Ha, do you guys have any idea just how long it took me to make those scales?  I've probably put 6 or 7 hours work into them.  There's no way I'm modifying them now.

Many here already made own scales. Personally I spent hours and hours in creating individual scales by hand. Even now, after some practise, I estimate about 4 hours per wood/horn scale (for each side!!) with tools inside. So expect no mercy and add those slots!!!  >:D >:D

  :D
