I don't know much about this maker.What I do know you may know as well.For instance,he hails from the same country where Chris Reeve began his knife making career,South Africa.De Villers also uses the same steel currently used by Reeve S35VN.They both use the frame lock that Chris Reeve pioneered into the knife industry although De Villiers does incorporate an over-travel device for the lock mechanism.Both men charge a premium for their product.I do know that Reeve does incorporate extreme measures to insure extraordinary tolerances for his product.I'm unaware as to what measures De Villiers uses in the production of his knives although he has been a maker since 1990.
None of this information may be helpful or maybe it will.Sometimes you have to buy what you like and not what someone else recommends.At this point,it's anyones guess as to whether De Villiers will have a lasting impact on the knife industry or whether his products will increase in value.
My advice to you would be;If you like it,buy it.
