I was thinking about this topic more when Boker came to mind. I looked at the Boker BOB and the Boker Vox Rold Scout. These knives both look interesting however never owning a Boker I cannot comment much more.
Cool thread. In a survival situation a saw really tops my list of important tools to have. An Awl could come in handy too and maybe a file. You can probably see where I am going with this and yes I know you was asking about a knife.Think about a Surge with a S30V blade, extra saws and files for the exchanger thingy, scissors and awl. Not to mention drivers which can be a lifesaver in modern day survival situations.Plus it is something you can use day to day and would be on you when the baloon actually goes up.
Have you checked out the Ontario Rat 3
can't remember who made this mod but here is some drool material
Not a survival knife per say but a great all around outdoor knife. Harder to find these days, the Marbles Woodcraft is an excellent knife with excellent steel. This Gladstone era one has the famous 52-100 (@ 60-62 HRC) ball bearing steel blade used when Mike Stewart (Bark River Knives) was there. (Image removed from quote.)This knife was a gift from my daughter and lives in the SAK bag so it goes with me out the door in a fire...it's one I do not want to lose.
A knife less than 4 inches. Then having the Pen knife for that purpose would be a great option which you be carried for everyday outdoors.
