Package arrival, a YELLOW SPARTAN.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

No key ring, wondering now if scales are original, or if this was an advertising piece and scales swapped out. Seller indicated original 🤔

Unit is clean and well oiled, just scale tools do not fit right, tweezers feel loose and pick gets stuck when inserting with difficult removal.

But YELLOW looks good regardless.  I will need to pop one side off to inspect. 🫣

LoopCutter, I've had a similar experience with a teethpick being very tight with original scales. I think if the SAK is dropped in a particular spot or if it's just...old that can happen. I have that exact issue with this model.

I like those scales!

I am planning to warm this up and remove the backside scales first to inspect.

My suspicion is partially because the toothpick fits loosely in the front side.

Otherwise the tools is very clean and well oiled.

I do like the YELLOW and I should check SAKWIKI and see if the SPARTAN was sold in YELLOW.

I did snag this in auction for same price YELLOW scales were going cost me from seller in Ukraine.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]        Looks like a really nice one.  I have a later type.  Nylon handles.  Newer type shield that is printed on instead of inlaid like a regular Spartan.  Key ring.  Scale tools.  Liners are a little different than a regular Spartan.  Mine had a rough life.  Best wishes.  G

I knew a guy that had one of the Economy models from the mid 80s.  Only knife he ever carried but it was still soldiering on the last I saw him.  He said it was all he ever needed.

It has often been said - you can't go wrong with a Spartan. Scissors are nice to have. And a keyring bail? I wonder how much that cost ?

On the basis that I don't want to lose this one out in the field ... it never goes there so ... for a day of odd jobs and shopping this was yesterday (and today)

I don't know much about the P-38 Barry so it's a good read and also has quite a bit about their use in the the North Africa campaign which is currently firing my curiosity.

The cross is GITD, the YELLOW does not.

It is a SE SPARTAN and was my first scale swap project.

I must correct myself.

I carry this YELLOW Spartan with third party scales in a pocket sheath.

I left out this morning on the table and checked a hour or more later and to my surprise not only the cross, the complete handle GLOWS in the dark.

Yes, I've seen scales like those before that were GITD. How do they feel? Are they smooth like standard cellidor scales?
