here is my nightmare story from a few years ago:

an earlier poster mentioned not saying you use it for protection or "in case something happens" which I said. This is back when stop and frisk was in full force, so even if you didnt do something illegal you could get stopped captain s.  Anyway I avoid nyc like the plague now, still carry assited open kershaws and life has been pretty crappy for me since this happened

Im sure a few guys remember this story of mine from 2012, I wound up having to pay a fine and do a few days of community service, while I had a cold, which led to a broken rib or torn cartilage in my chest(had an orthopaedist xray it about 6 months ago) which still bothers me at this momment 3 years later. I have had many other health issues since this happened and while I can't directly blame them on this event(i amgetting up there in age) it has srcewed my life up pretty bad, not looking for sympathy, but this thread brought back some bad memmories for me

I've been to the bar where ol Croc Dundee carries his knife.

That town has That Bar, a Fuel Station, and a Windmill, I think the nearest police station is about 300km away.
So it's probably not a huge issue :P

Anyway, I just purchased a knife (small slipjoint...), first time in a while I suppose, apparently when I wasn't watching they changed to laws again, and now every purchase of a knife comes with your license details being recorded in case they want to prove you bought a knife at some point.

Someone get me the Victory Gin.

Did Australia clamp down/ban pocket knives when they did the gun round up/ban in 1996 (I think it was)?

Yea that's some bull smurf. I would personally never enter a area with a stop and frisk law.

If I did for some reason live close to a area like that and did HAVE to enter the area and a police officer stopped me and tried to frisk I would still not let them. I would definitely go to jail, but that would be my decision and I would pay the price. Its just the principle and the unconstitutional behavior is not alright with me.

Many years ago we were forced to "detain" a belligerent idiot at a apartment place I lived in (and kinda assisted the on site guy with "security related" matters)
Anyway long story short I held the guy at gunpoint while my (much larger ) friend scared him into lying down, police showed up and I holstered my weapon he yelled over to me "hey throw that on my dashboard for a bit"
I did so through his open window, let him do his cuffing and after dude was properly detained he was like "ok you're good" so I went and got it back out of his car
we were both in our early twenties, and in a fairly large city, and did not know the particular officer that responded that night

I love the south
