At least I can recognize this chap; a Trooper from the 501st.  A big part of the Clone Wars series.

Cheers Gareth!

I remember my friend had a large parrot and he also had a storm trooper helmet and whenever he put the helmet on (near the parrot) the parrot would SCREAM bloody murder, we never knew why lol

Luv it!  and I might steal it too because I made a similar micro MF for my (unbuilt) UCS Imperial Star Destroyer

I just built this small section to test my micro Falcon:

That's looking fantastic mate.  Definitely need to see the progress on that build! (Once you get going of course)

I got around to putting this Off-Road Race Buggy (set number 42164) together today.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

It's a nice-looking buggy with a cool color scheme, though I wish the rear wheels were given the same treatment as the fronts. A V-4 engine mounted midships was an unexpected neat touch. However, the build is a bit fiddly (especially with the rear suspension), and it flexes when the front wheels are steered or the rear suspension is compressed. And this is by no means a knock on this set in particular, but applicable to all things Lego: I wish they'd get rid of those damn stickers. :td: (I'm bad at applying them.) Overall, a good set with a lot of play value.

And with that, back to the Star Wars advent calendar.

That is a cool looking buggy, farmer.
The closest that I have to that are a couple of the monster trucks kits.  I actually preferred the alternate builds for them though.
I'm gonna have to get them back out to get some pics now I guess.

current dilemma... take some of the growing number of sets back to Spain with me to build there during the holidays, or leave them all here to build here (at the current rate, both are unlikely to be the actual outcome)  :ahhh

With a heavy heart I do think Mark wouldn't want things left undone so I'm going to plough on with the SW countdown.

Day 18 and it's yet another Spaceship! (I'm not complaining).  What we have is the U-Wing that we first saw in the Rogue One film.  Now the first photo is absolutely how the instructions say the thing should be built, but I really don't think it captures the dimensions of the  craft.  I much prefer my little tweak of moving the wings forward by one stud.

Day 19.  More spaceship! I can't say I much liked any of the Jedi Fighter designs from the prequel films but this is very easily recognised as Yoda's personal craft.  I love the splash of green that can be seen in the cockpit.

Yes, I'm still enjoying the advent calendar.

I decided that this Christmas is gonna be sorta like 1984 all over again (unless I wind up working, in which case I'll get to these shortly afterwards). So I bought these discontinued sets for Christmas builds.

Day 20 and it's a minifig.  I initially thought one of Snoke's guards, but upon checking I am reliably told that he's from Moff Gideon's retinue.

Day 21 (on the home straight now) and we finally have a bit of scenery!  Darth Vader's Castle to be precise. I've kinda joked about it already but we've had so many vehicles and figures that I almost missed the slightly janky "weapon racks" and low resolution buildings.  Almost.  ;)

Whoa - That is a cool minifig/stormtrooper - The original red imperial guards (???) were always my favourite

We did not do the advent calendar this year - My son has left Star Wars and Lego behind!!!

Day 23.  Surely no explanation required, Luke's speeder (not worth as much since the XP-38 came out).  I do like the fact they get a suggestion of Luke and 3PO with just four studs.

25 years sounds about right...I remember buying this set not long before I joined the Navy. If only I'd bought an extra to sock away. Thanks for sharing the advent calendar with us!

And now for round one of my Christmas Legos. Here are the two Tiny Turbos sets: 8303 Demon Destroyer and 8304 Smokin' Slickster.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

They do suffer a little because of the stickers, and I might rework the Demon Destroyer a little (so as to get rid of the raked look). But the Tiny Turbos are quick and fun builds. Most of them can be found in the cool hard plastic box/case things. And with some patience, a decent collection of them can be built up pretty inexpensively, even if you're going after sealed sets. Highly recommended.

And now for round two, part one of the Christmas Legos: the Mud Masher (set number 8226).

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

This set contains a mix of the older Technic bricks and the newer "lift arms." It builds into a curious little buggy with an equally curious belt-driven 4WS setup. Those balloon tires were tricky to fit onto their wheels, and some of the axles and lift arms were very hard to connect. The ribbed hoses will be handled carefully; I suspect they could be fragile. On the plus side, it's a fairly straightforward build (which I'm hoping will become easier in the future, as parts "break in"), the fox head graphic and "black widow" color scheme are pretty cool, only three of four labels had to be applied, and it shows Technic in a transitional period. Note that the fourth label is for the alternate model, a really goofy three-wheeler that I won't be building. Recommended, if for no other reason than it's a 26-year-old set that can still be found fairly inexpensively, even sealed.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Round two, part two will be up later today is now being added. Here is the Road Rally V (set number 8225).

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Our driver has to be a contortionist to get into his vehicle! And he probably wishes his mechanic would switch out the steering shaft for a 6L axle. Those are about the only dings I can find on this set (aside from Lego's bizarre insistence upon putting holes in the Technic minifigures' legs). This was a fast and fun build that, despite its relatively small piece count, is loaded with old-school Technic goodness like actual rack-and-pinion steering and engine parts that can't be used to build anything else. Its overall look is of a go-kart with F-1/IndyCar styling touches. That little thumper drives the rear axle directly (you might be able to see the drive gears in the photo below). And there were only three labels to apply; the ones on the spoiler struts fit in place particularly well. I may build the alternative model, a sort of gyro-copter. This set might cost a little more if it's MISB, but it's terrific and well worth picking up. Highly recommended.

Here's a set that was apparently released so recently that it doesn't have a Bricklink inventory: 11039 Creative Food Friends.

These Classic sets are quick and fun builds that are (dare I say it?) awfully cute. I will 1,000% be building the taco.
