I finally got a wooden Svord, shown with a plastic one for comparison.

The plastic ones feel smoother, in operation.

The wooden handles seem to be made from lightly varnished cheap-feeling wood.
Their size is practically identical.

The wooden one weighs only about a gram less than the plastic ones so the handles density must be similar.

You need to get your sandpaper out Dks  :salute:

It will feel lovely when you have had a play with it  ;)

Svords allways need some work, just look at their grinds..

I hope using sandpaper on it will not hurt its collectability

I think sandpaper will make them more collectable  ;)

As you know I'm a fan of them but they might disappoint people used to buying a SAK and expecting a perfectly finished knife  :-\
These will benefit from a small amount of sanding  :tu:

Thanks Zed (I think you saw them last year in another thread)

Amici,
Here's a classic I happen to stumble across while doing a little inventory this afternoon, a classic pattern which was once standard issue but no longer.

this slip joint has been with me for years and has seen allot of action, and still has allot of life left.

Cheers,
Serge

Great Eastern Cutlery Weaver's Jack, rust red Micarta.  This one is an "S" or "store" model, with scale color mis-match, and was priced accordingly.

NutSAK,

Very nice, I like that handle material. Not sure which I like better though, the pile side or the mark side. I do like that GEC decided to go with a noticably less curvy Hawkbill on the mainblade of these.  :tu:

I bet these are pretty thick for their size being a three backspringer, got any backspring shots?

I totally agree on the main blade profile, and I wouldn't have bought one if it had a more traditional hawkbill profile.  This one should be perfect for cutting rope, landscape fabric, etc.

To me, the pile side is definitely more attractive.  Honestly, I thought this was probably the least attractive scale material offered in this pattern, but I wanted a tough user and the micarta seemed the obvious best choice.  I would really like to see the Northfield in green hemlock bone in person.

I don't have a backspring shot, but I'll get you one.  The width is exactly 5/8" at the head end, which actually feels really good to me, about like a 3-layer cellidor SAK.  Using the clip and pen blades are a bit awkward with the main folded, but not uncomfortable.

NutSAK,

Yeah, I am not a fan of Hawkbill blades. GEC's take on it is much better. Not sure myself which I prefer as far as color. I am leaning to the mark side on yours but can't really say.

5/8" at it's thickest isn't bad. And I can see what you mean about using the secondaries with that big Hawk closed up.....with it's proud stance in the frame and that serpentine shape it's likely not the most comfortable. But hand size would likely be a serious determining factor on how it feels to certain individuals.

Nice slippie regardless.

Zed,

The Remington's are nice, at least for the earlier Camillus built stuff. I own alot of Camillus built Remingtons, mostly Scout pattern knives. All good. This new Stockman I got is real good. The newer remington stuff being made by Bear & Son has been a hit and miss affair though. I have one of these and it's OK, a Reproduction Scout......but have seen some others that were absolutely horrible.

I try to stick with the earlier Camillus built stuff.

Classics!

I love the scout models, I have been trying to get some of the older ones on ebay, but they allways seem to be going for more than I am willing to pay. I make do with RR scouts.. :-[

2X, I am sure if I could see your knives they would be great!  :D

Two canoes, a Colt Titanium and an Indian Head, similar to the Rough Rider canoes.
The Indian head is practically identical to the Rough Rider Long rifle Canoe, down to the bone used. The Indian Head, however, says that it is Hand Made.

The Colt has a very shiny titanium coating, and is the smoothest feeling of all the canoes I have that are made in that same factory.
It has nicely polished springs, and the finish is a “click” better than the Indian Head and RRs.

I'm liking it, great to fiddle with anyway. :D  I carried it at work yesterday but I have to admit it felt huge sitting in my pocket. :-\  I am rather more used to a small traditional pocket knife or SAK though, so it's hardly surprising it felt big. :)

Got a new Chinese Kissing Crane SodBuster, one of my favourite patterns.

Shown with two other practically identical sodbusters and two other similar Kissing Cranes from Italy.

The Case feels the best but the Kissing Crane is not far behind.
