Any love for Grohman Knives ?

Grohman's have had a following since the early fifties . The number 3 continues to serve in the Military , Navy , and Coast Guard . It was at one time issued , now as a private purchase from Kit shops .

Both are sweet . That is a super #1 , the 4 is also very nice .

The Groman is somewhat similar to a Nesmuk , not a copy , more convergence . They look wierd , but are great in the hand .

I've never tried a genuine Grohmann, the nearest that's ever passed my way being a CS Canadian Belt Knife which was obviously modelled after these. I tried that first on purpose, just to see how I felt with the unusual (to me) handle style. On the CS version, while the knife was good, it didn't feel right in my hand, and i never really "connected" with the handling of it.

I do like the look of the #100 though (especially with stag handles ) so if I had some surplus cash to throw their way, that's probably what I'd choose

I did find this rather nice Grohmann Ulu locally, which in itself is a bit shocking.

I got my #1 at Lee Valley ,and the#3 while on holiday in Nova Scotia . Played with them a bit , and started to really enjoy them .

They make carbon steel , as well as stainless , the stainless cuts and feels a lot like SAK steel . Both are easy to sharpen .

Same here!

We should get together and go as a group!  :D

I have had a bunch of #3's over the years. Often someone who likes them even more than me gets them from me.  I can't complain though, as my father traded me an old (pre '64) Puma White Hunter for one. Not that my father needed to trade anything, I'd happily have given it to him, but a knife has to be traded or sold as per old proverbs.

Plus I really liked the White Hunter too.  :D

These days I still have my latest Grohmann Belt Knife as it was a gift from several forum members and therefore shall never leave my hands and I have a nice carving set for the kitchen.  The fork is absolutely perfect but I find the knife a little light for serious carving.  It is a beautiful set, and again, will go with me as long as I'm able to use such things.

You could say I'm a fan... :D

The sheaths are of reasonable quality , fit well , and are useable . I did a minor tweak on my #1 , to make it dangle like a Scandi.
