DC4 is great for sharpening but terrible for kickin' out the jams. For that you need an MC5. I'll get my coat.

Have any of you had problems with the adhesive between the 2 parts of those DC stones?

Nope. Just remember that being a big deal a few years back. I'm actually missing a DC in my life

I think the adhesive deal was early on...no problems here but I rinse mine off, don't immerse it in a water bath.

going off topic, anyone here have a lansky puck or similiar ? I got one same time as i ordered my new moras but only got around to using it yesterday - even with my lack of skill, it sharpened up my garden tools very nicely, I was impressed. Some of the tools were so blunt they needed a decent rub of a file first, but they sharpened up nicely after that :)

ok, heres a question which is probably obvious, but i'd rather ask then frak up whats become one of my favourite knives - i want to drill a hole in my opinel #8 to attach a short leather cord for hanging it. It spends most of its time in the kitchen and I want it on a hook for easy access/location. So, is there enough room to drill a hole without the a cord getting in the way of the closed blade ? looks like there is but i just wanted to ask those who know.  thanks guys :tu:

thanks Sparky - I wound up getting 2 x stainless companions - one for me and one for my youngest. Waiting on payday and think i'll get a carbon heavy duty one - just cos . . . no real need for it but thats never stopped anyone here ! and of course i had to get a falkniven DC4 to keep an edge on it . . . . and while i was ordering the moras i got a lansky puck to sharpen my garden tools (great gadget that, well worth the 6 or 7 euro i paid for it) . . . is there no end to it ?? :ahhh  :ahhh  :ahhh

Not a lot of hand room there, maybe a 2x4 would work better.

not as cramped as it looks, mounted on a flat piece of wood (roughly 3" x 2") then held in place in a bench vise. I found it comfortable to use, but as you've all gathered i am an amateur at this stuff :)

you know what'd be a great idea ??  :pok: a mora badge  :pok: :pok: :pok:

:imws:

You can rest the stone on its sheath on the edge of a table and use it that way, and once you feel confident enough, hold in in one hand with the blade in the other - then you can sharpen in the field (doesn't have to be a field, could be a meadow, a forest, up a mountain or tree, side of the motorway, riverbank, cinema, or even in bed).

Dog is still in hospital - had an allergic reaction to antibiotics  Maybe pick her up tonight if her temp comes down, but just as likely she'll be in another night.

Glad to hear your youngest (I thought you were talking about a child until I read the word 'vet') is ok. They are a caution aren't they?
