It's in my "needs TLC group" at the moment.  I think I can buff the scales enough that I won't need to replace them.

I did that with my red scaled SC.  It's not perfect but it looks better.

Do SAKs usually come with this amount of scratches? : r/victorinox
Remove scratches from Swiss Army Knife (cellidor/plastic) scales by polishing with plastic polish (like Polywatch), toothpaste, or automotive scratch remover, using a microfiber cloth to buff in circular motions. For deeper scratches, wet-sand with high-grit sandpaper (2000–7000) before polishing. Avoid high-speed heat from tools to prevent melting.

Recommended Methods:
Plastic Polish/Polishing Compound: Apply products like Polywatch or Mother's plastic polish with a microfiber cloth, rubbing in circular motions to remove light scratches and restore gloss.
Sandpaper Method (Deep Scratches): For deeper gouges, start with wet 240-grit sandpaper to remove material, then move to 600-grit, 1000-grit, and finally high-grit (up to 7000) for a smooth finish, followed by polishing.
Toothpaste/Baking Soda (Light Scuffs): Apply toothpaste (not gel) or a paste of baking soda and water to a soft cloth to gently buff out minor blemishes, as described in SAK Parts article.
Autosol: Many users report success using Autosol metal polish to remove scratches from plastic scales.

Important Tips:
Safety First: Remove the toothpick and tweezers before beginning to avoid damaging them.
Avoid Overheating: If using a drill-mounted buffing wheel or Dremel, use low speeds to prevent melting the celluloid acetate scales.
Protect the Logo: Carefully sand or polish around the inlaid metal shield/logo, as it can be easily removed by abrasive sanding, say YouTube users.
Alternative Option: If the scales are too damaged, they can be removed and replaced with new ones, says SAK Parts.

Tooth paste is an option I have used on light scuffs.

If they are not cracked, then go to it.  I already know you are a polishing expert.  No need to make them shine like a mirror if you are going to carry it anyway, right? I think they look pretty good already.  Best wishes.  G

Happy Easter and Swiss Champ Sunday everyone!  This is one of my favorite tools on the Swiss Champ, the scaler.  I have used this for its intended purpose, with the body of the knife in a plastic sandwich bag to make cleaning easier.  I've used it a lot more for the ruler on the sides and the hook remover for tea bag removal ops  :D

Have a great day everyone!

Implements I expect to be favorites as I learn to employ this very unique tool set as I embrace the Swiss Champ, a tool I never expected to own, but now have three plus a CHAMPION  :climber:

That looked like a really nice holster you bought for your big Vics, Gordon.  I might sneak in a SC photo later.  It is raining outside now.  I finally got some batteries for a trail camera.  Tried to get a deer photo, without any luck.  I finally decided that the deer have one individual that acts as a lookout for the others.  Once the stoolie deer sees me put out a camera, it alerts all the others and they hide in the woods and snicker at me.   I will try it out on a raccoon tonight.  Rackies like having their pictures taken.  Best wishes.  G

 I've seen mine in action at 3am in our bird feeders that we used to have.  Currently we have 1 surviving bird feeder after our resident bear carried them off 2 nights ago. I found one and recovered it from his hangout.

I knew you'd like them Gordon!  The Champion is one I should pick up, but I actually like the Swiss Champ pliers.

With this sort of turn out I thought I had to carry my Black SC today. Used the cap lifter to lever open a split ring to change some keys.

Just wondering whether Scale restoration tips should be it's own thread? I've certainly used Autosol on some bad scratches to good effect.

And would that be something that could be made into a Sticky by the mods?

Thank you.  I thought the holster (aka belt sheath) would practical.

I received a bird feeder with an inbuilt camera that will connect via to a web page so I can monitor activity on the feeder.    Plus it has a solar panel to mount and maintain power.    The downside is it is temperature sensitive so o not usable during winter.

Regarding deer, I normally do not have deer in my immediate area, but one may get lost or chased by a stray dog.
Last Monday It was warmer, I grilled brats for dinner.  Just  befre Sun down, I covered the grill, the back door was open with sliding screen closed, and the front door open with storm door closed providing a clear view front to back.
Then bam, bang, and one chair spun on its base.

A small deer, sized about a size of my daughter’s Great Danes was acting dazed. He hit the screen slider hard and was knocked back.  Startled me, and him.

He then went around the south side.

Next morning, examining my door, I will need to install new screening.

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

I did catch a couple of deer outside.  Camera has a limited range to actuate.  They have to be pretty close.  I drew on a fake moustache with a Sharpie that fooled the lookout.  Probably thought I was friend Aztec.  Best wishes.  G
