Yes there have been a couple changes.

However I have to say that after a month plus of testing and using various themes I like this new setup.

Sure it'll take some getting used to, we get that, please give it some time to develop while we continue to improve and work on the many different levels.

new software displays avatars, yet via profile could not locate method to change the avatar.

Using with Chrome and am able to navigate.

Still using Tapatalk with iPhone as it easier to read via small screen. Also to load photos for me.

Ya not a big fan of the new look. Jars on my eyes. Feels off. Maybe if the colors were back to what the old forum was the rest wohad not feel so different. Maybe I'm too old to change but I prefer coke classic.

The trick is knowing when to stop.

I've visited quite a few forums over the years. Yet for some reason the ease at MT"o was soothing in comparison.... like coming home.

Way way too much white, had to reduce my brightness down to minimum first thing this morning...Arrrgh, My EYES!

And the whole look has no resemblance of old. I don't doubt the huge amount of work that must have gone into bringing this. But I think it's lost a lot of its character.

Still early days....we'll have to see

I keep my desktop as dark as possible, and even enjoy Blackle for searching since my screen is darker

I have mixed feelings now, but it's not bad, just different. I do miss seeing the post counts.

I used to view the entire site on my Ipad, but now am stuck with this. The white is terrible and makes me not even want to be on MTO because it makes my eyes hurt looking at the screen. I just do not like a single aspect of the new look. I feel terrible saying it as i'm sure yourself and others have worked very hard on this. Please do not take it as me bad mouthing the forum. Its just my personal opinion on it. I'm probably in the minority on this one,

Is there no possible way to view it in its old form?

I liked the older better, but that's just the shell, it's what's inside that counts, so I'll stay here and get used to it.
Congratulations for all that worked for it. I know what it takes, we changed software for Cloudy Nights a couple of years ago, people didn't like it (most astronomers are grumpy ol' men) and changed it again. There's initial resistance in every change proccess.

Traditionalists. I still use classic XP, the look/menu, on some PCs...

Maybe the youngsters among us will like the new forum look more..

You do get used to it, slowly.

Lets see if we are still unhappy after a few days, when some adjustments have been made.

Funny you mention cloudy nights.....was that the one that used white text on black background?? I never visited again....once was enough. Absolutely detested it.

It looks great on my work pc. It dulls whites a little so takes off the glare a bit, either that or I'm spending to much time on here at work. Maybe I should get some work done instead

I do not know how many people worked on this, but it is surprising that none of them thought it was too bright.

It's not too bad with the brightness turned down on the monitor.

Anyway, it's early days, give the Dev team time to capitulate and acquiesce to our demands

It's a work in progress!

Micah and the team has put a lot of work into this (me excluded.)
Our old theme was heavily out of date. Some features weren't going to be supported anymore.
As much as we love the same old, same old- it had to be done.
I really appreciate all of the hard work Micah has put in to this so we can keep on going for another decade. Remember that your fellow MTO members and friends are volunteering their time to make this work for all of us. It's a big job and it takes time to get it right.

I can see that Micah has changed the background colour to the same grey tone we had before. I like that change too! Nice and easy on the eyes.
I also noticed that this new theme is super fast and isn't using as much data as before on my devices. That's a really nice change.
Over the coming days I'm sure we will see lots of little tweaks based on all of our constructive feedback.

A few things have changed places and not all of us are tech inclined. I get that changes like that take a day or two for us to adjust!

Don't forget that our Mods are here if you have any questions. Feel free to send any a PM if you have a question about anything.

This is like breaking in a new pair of boots. They fit differently than your favourite pair at first, but give them a bit of time and you'll break them in- and then they'll be super comfortable.

The forum may look a little aesthetically different- but it's the same forum. The same topics. The same people.
