About 3-3/4” long closed.
Similar to the 47 pattern Case Stockman.
The one I am carrying is a Buck of the Month 2021, a 2 blade model with Micarta scales. David’s is the 2022 BOM with S30v steel and Micarta, also 2 blade.
A consider the 301 a standard size Stockman.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

There are two AND three blade 301s?

Are all the 301s the same length closed? I ask because, sheath.

How kind of you😉🌹

IIRC, you are on the east side.  I will be north of Kalamazoo, in Cooper Township.   Hope to visit one brother and my sister as well as mom this afternoon.

Maybe next time I will travel that eastern shoreline either going or returning from the Bridge area.

To answer the second question first, all 301s are the same 3 7/8” closed.

The standard 301s all have three blades (clip, sheepsfoot, and spey).  However Buck has done some Buck of the Month and or other special runs of the 301 with only two blades (clip & sheepsfoot).

Just ONE knife David?!  :o  Well, if you are going to carry just the one, that's a very good choice I'd say.  :hatsoff:

Second of my "new" penknives.  Shown with it's bigger sibling, both made by Lockwood Bros.  When I first picked it up in the antique shop I feared one of the blades was broken, but after a proper look I'm thinking it's possible the short sheepfoot blade came out of the factory this way.  On the other hand, it might just be a very nice clean-up of broken blade.  Thoughts?  :dunno:

BTW, this still wants a second pass at cleaning and polishing, but it's is at least now sharp.  :D

Hope you are feeling better today David! 🌹

This morning was called to duty to assist son’s family with the 9 yo grandson. Mom is teacher and leaves for school at 6:30 and dad is fire fighter lieutenant and arrives home about 7:45.

Grandson actually surprised me, making a breakfast sandwich and brewing coffee, along with fresh blended watermelon juice.

Very tasty, enjoyed while admiring my 301 Micarta stockman.

My guess would be a tipped or worn down pen blade. But your guess is as good as mine   :dunno:

There's certainly space in the frame for it to have been longer.  I also like the idea of someone liking their knife enough to take the time and effort to have it reshaped rather than throwing it away.   :)

Cool Pen Knife. Since I've never seen a Pen Knife with a Sheepfoot balde. I'm guess its been reprofiled. But who knows. Some odd stuff comes out of Sheffield on occasion. For example a Sheldon grafting Knife made by Wade and Buther I won the other night.
