why are victorinox philips drivers heads positioned so that they  look like an x rather than a + ?

So they don't look like a Swiss cross

It's able to be bigger as a cross than a plus, while still fitting in a smaller space since the corners are further away than the edges.  It's a highly efficient use of the available space.

Assuming that meets with approval, I don't think anyone has yet answered my question above?

What year did Victorinox introduce the utility hook on the back side of the scissors?  :D

Grant is correct.

He can now ask another question, in addition to the pending one.

Since no one seems to care that the hook was introduced in 1991 or that Victorinox rates it for up to 200lbs, I guess I will try another one.  :D

We all know that SOG's Compound Leverage provides twice as much pressure on the head as you apply to the handles, but what other benefit do you get from Compound Leverage tools that you really can't do with any other design?

One hand opening.  You can flip SOG pliers open like a Butterfly knife.

Nope. You can flip a lot of butterfly opening tools open like that.

You can hold onto a nut or something with them partially in the closed position. It's a bit hard to explain but basically the handles don't fold close.

What was the first multitool to incorporate replaceable plier heads?
