Rambo style survival knife.
on: November 24, 2016, 05:05:27 AM
I came across this survival knife which is very similar to another one I have in my collection, but there were a few differences. My greatest surprise when I got back home was the included fishing kit. This is one of the more comprehensive fishing kits I have ever seen jammed into a hollow handle.

This one features a um...er...spiked pommel.

The knife is certainly large, and features the usual aircraft fuselage aluminium backsaw that many of these type of knives seem to have. The spiked pommel features a fairly functional dry compass. It appears to work nicely.

The inside compartment contains quite a lot of fishing gear. We are talking a spoon, several hooks including a jig hook for the included rubber lure body, two pieces of fishing line, 2 needles, several sinkers, even a wire leader is included to name a few. I was very surprised at the cute little bobber thrown in there as well.

This was a good find for my Rambo style hollow handle survival knife collection.

My friend had one like that, he thought it was sooo cool because he thought it was like the Rambo, but it was so cheaply made it just fell apart..

I have that same knife in the adverts...and that is the most terribly cheap Rambo knife ever made.  :D

As for the um...example I have here...that spike is totally ridiculous.

I still have the knife but the sheath fell apart. The only reason I still have the knife is because I never used it...which sort of tells you the quality of that sheath.

I can walk to a shop in less than 5 minutes from where I'm sitting now and buy that exact knife, almost did first time I saw it in the window, but the price......

Would you pay (the equivalent of) US$39 for that knife?

I was a cool kid, had the camo version, I'm extremely nostalgic, but not stupid.....

Nope.  I did already when I was a kid, but I'd like to think I'm at least a little smarter than that now....
