A little Graphics help needed
on: February 05, 2017, 02:23:32 AM

I'm thinking of getting a stamp made that I can use on wood or leather
I need to send a jpeg picture of what I want to the makers,

I'm using the program paint that came with my computer
I want the 'SPARKY' to curve and fill the oval properly
The letters are in Palatino Linotype

Can anyone tidy it up, make it look good and email it to me please?
Thanks  :salute:

I can probably make it worse, if that's any use to you?   :ahhh

Seriously, there are a lot of good graphics people here that I am certain would be able to make something proper for you.

What kind of font etc. do you want. I don't have any of the software to give you anything "professional" but it would seem like this is simple enough to do with some wordart and paint. But I guess you (or more like the ones you order from) want it in a format more suitable for a CNC/3D printer.

It just needs to be a jpeg 42,  :tu:
I have paint but I can't get the word Sparky to curve around inside the oval

I'm not entirely sure what you're looking for. So a stamp for leather making, are the oval shapes going to be visible in the depression? Also, I personally don't typically like when type is warped on a curve or circular. (It can of course be done properly.) And Im not sure the Palatino typeface lends itself well to a curve, see the way the Y distorts off the end. You may want another font, maybe just initials in a logotype shape with the 415 would be possible, maybe a block shape.

I had a couple minutes to spare, not sure this would even help you though. Good luck

Best I can do with my meager skills and tools. Font is a bit different but that's as close as I could get on Photobucket editing

Kaput, I understand what you are saying about the letters but I have to try it  :salute:
That first one is exactly what I am looking for  :tu:  :tu:  :tu:
The second one is really cool!

Steve and all you other Guys thanks for your help, I think I am sorted now but will get back to you if I need to, thanks for your help  :salute:

Here's an update of where I've got to on this project
And thanks again for helping Guys

I thought I would give DIY a try

I've got a little brass knob  ::)

Bolt it to a piece of wood and flaten the top

Copy paste glue

Not going so well, letters are too small  and my fingers are too big  :(

Sand back and start again
Lets try some bigger letters, no room, try just the numbers this time

That's working better  :tu:

Add some heat

Not too bad (happy  :D )

Make a Walnut handle

Well I'm happy enough but it's a shame I couldn't get the smaller one to work on there,
guess I will have to throw some money at it if I want it done properly

Whats the width you want for your stamp?  I can import it into my CAD software and see what the detail would look like when cut with a 1/16" end mill.  I cut odd shapes alot lately in brass so its something I could do pretty quick.

No problem!  I had a look and I think scaled to the size you want it would take a smaller bit than I have anyhow to get the detail.   :)

Update
Thanks to everyone who gave me their help with this  :salute:

In the end after talking to Peter (Tofty) he designed and had made for me these stamps   :tu:

Thanks Peter for your time and patience  :hatsoff:

You can't really see the stamp in the leather square,
I think I need softer leather or to wet the leather or a better press

Yes he did  :tu:

Maybe  :D
It seems hard to burn a stamp in to a handle which is what I wanted to try, on curved wood it kinda slides while it is hot and blurs the image
Also I'm not sure how well the stamp will hold up to heating with a blowlamp but it's all an experiment
I need to practice

Just a thought, Tony. Could you drill a teeny hole through the "1" and put a pin through from the back, just proud of the surface? This will give you a fixed point to rock the stamp around to make sure you get the whole logo branded, without it sliding.

Thanks Al,
Not a bad idea  :salute:
but I think I will try heating and holding the stamp upright in a vice and try rolling the wood across the stamp
