Ha ha ha. Good point. Since it's removable plastic it can always be dyed... or thrown in the bin as some have chosen to do.

Why, God? Why?

Being billed as emergency Survival/ outdoors tool of questionable use over a number of existing tools, we so far have a stainless and black, Coyote, Hunter green, and now black. Every color that is exactly going to get lost if dropped in the environment for which it was purportedly created.

Personally, I have a guilty desire to own the Hunter green REI with topography on the blade, even though every tool I own might be better when I'm hiking or camping.

Should there not be a yellow, red, or even an orange-handled Signal already? Aren't we supposed to accept that the whistle, Ferro, and files are meant as a last resort? Should this thing not be plainly visible in a hurry when we are lying at the edge of the tree-line, alone, disoriented, cold, hungry, deliriously babbling to ourselves and a volleyball. Isn't that the condition in which we are supposed to be when we need to be able to identify, grab, and use this thing to somehow save our lives or "signal" to someone who can?

Can we do that if we can't find it in our gear or on the ground?

Orange, please!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I lost my Skeletool CX over the summer in New York while traveling so I bought a regular Signal last week. Although the black looks nice, I think I'll stick with the regular since it brings back memories of the old CX I lost.

I hope that LM will start offering the whistle and file in black too for replacement parts. They are already producing them for the Cabelas green one, and if the BO one has the black bits that will look. VERY cool. Or bright red.
