Just a question to the guys in this challenge with models that have the scissors... Got the chance to try it out?

Day 13. Working on stuff in the home workshop.
That must be quite a serious home workshop you have there
Thank you, alexanderre! The shop is geared towards antiques restoration, so the need for many small pieces and screws seems endless. :ahhh
Aha!
What's the age on this thing?
(Image removed from quote.)
Sitting area removed for sanding.

It's a long shot, but hey...
Quite difficult to date those cast iron base stools, but 1880s-1920s would be my best guess without examining the way the base and seat mount are cast. The long well-formed height screw places it around or after the industrial revolution. There are some reproductions, but I would bet that is an old one, because the base is fairly small  compared to the seat size.
Please show us what it looks like when the seat top is done!  :tu:

Day 14: Spirit didn't get any action today. Just did some yard work and raked leaves.
Great help! Thanks!
Any thought about the value?

Day 23

Replaced the cable on an extension lead using the spirit. The cutters are a bit small for chopping through a 3 core 1.5mm cable, but are great for wire stripping of the 3 cores. The chisel/scraper is great for scoring the outer insulation to make stripping it off easier. No actions shot. I'll try and get one tonight when I change the spur for the immersion heater.

I've used the scissors several times. My scissors are stock, no modifications. They are great! I don't think any scissors will ever replace my 93mm Victorinox scissors as a favorite, but the Spirit scissors are really good, exceeding my expectations.

I've used them to trim finger nails, cut paper, snip heavy thread, and open some plastic packages. Excellent every time. I keep thinking it would be nice if the jaws opened up wider, but then I haven't really run into a need for that yet.

That’s good to hear... noticed how the blades on the scissors are positioned... It’s the reason why I’m still not used to spirit scissors... and now SOG is doing the same with the scissors on their new models.

Day 26:

Tested the Spirit scissors on some heavier cord:

Worked well, but I did need to hold the cord to prevent it from slipping forward as the jaws closed.

Used the scissors on my Compact to cut the same cord. The jaws gripped the cord as they cut, so the cord did NOT need to be held to make the cut. Win: Compact, 91mm scissors.

I like the scissors, the length is sufficient for snipping threads or cutting packages. But they are the wrong way round for right handers and more filigrane cutting his harder that way. I guess that’s how lefties feel most of the time.

Only issue with value is the location of sale and cost to ship. You might want to look around ebay for something similar close to your location. In the store I work at in Alabama, we usually get about $85 with the  seat recovered or refinished. Doesn't seem like much, but there were a lot of those stools produced. If it is marked with a brand and date on the iron casting, then it will possibly have more value.

I haven't really had any complaints about my scissors either  Thought that them not opening as far would hinder me but so far it hasn't  I also have left them unmodded so far :salute:

Day 24

Replacing the spur outlet for my immersion heater.  One of the little bumps that pushes the contacts had broken off

Did a little magnetic to electronic ballast changing today. The Spirit and the Sperry MM were all I needed. Well, a few extra wirenuts were needed.
