Congratulations, Steve and Poncho.

I'm itching to get a pocket knife back in my pocket. I will say, as a "Boy Scout knife with pliers", the Spirit does great job of filling the role. There is nothing during this challenge that I might have used a Spartan for, that the Spirit didn't or couldn't have done. I could see pairing this MT with an axe or machete and feeling fairly well equipped for camping or a canoe trip.

I think this challenge is getting to me though. Last night I had a dream that all the hinges and joints in the Spirit had loosened up and the tool would just flop open with blades and tools hanging out everywhere.

First: off topic

Please show us what it looks like when the seat top is done!  :tu:

The seat is sanded, but not waxed/varnished yet.
I'm in doubt about what to do.

Day 29:
Installed an alarm system for my father in law.
He wanted quite some options and special finishing touches.
Ended up working longer and harder then on a regular working day.

I'm exhausted...

Day 29:

I was able to get out for a hike up in the hills today. Cool, but still worked up a sweat climbing up and down the slopes.

No uses on the hike, but I was glad to have the Spirit with me!

Thanks for asking, Loopcutter.

The left knee is better, at least 90%. Of course, after I came off the trail and was headed home, I slipped on some road ice and did my right knee, but I think it'll be OK in a day or so.

Still, for a breath or two of fresh air, it was worth it.  :D

So the views you share within a short walk from your home’s back door?

I was in Bozeman at MSU back 1971 and loved it for the couple weeks there.

Yes. I walk out my front door and head up the trail. I've never done it, but, in theory, one could walk out my front door, hike over to the PCT, and walk up to Canada....or Mexico. This one fact is the entire reason I live here.

Bozeman is about 70 driving-minutes to the South of me. Nice town, but it done gone and got crowded since you were there in '71.

The Pacific Crest Trail?
Isn’t that in Washington State?

But you are 70 miles north of Bozeman, near Helena.

DOH! Yes, you are right. I was just talking to a guy who is planning a thru hike of a section of the PCT. Guess I have PCT on my mind--a bit envious of his planned trip.  I should have said, "Continental Divide Trail."  I'm in Helena. A little slice of heaven, but don't tell no one.   ;)

Day 18. Used the sheath like this today on a ladder. Surprisingly held the tool well. :)

I like the snap on that sheath far better than the velcro.

I knew you'd recognize your old SwissTool sheath! :)
Not bad for 20yo nylon! The Spirit is loose in it, but that is good for constant use. I sewed the loop up a tiny bit and it wears great. The new ones I ordered are good too, but not quite the same.  :tu:
As funny as the snap looks, it works as well as the newer snaps.

Day 30: Review time!

After a month of only carrying and using the Spirit X I really love it. I never felt like I was missing something or that I carried more than needed. It is the perfect urban-EDC MT with a great tool set, compact design,  and a high quality feel to it.

That being said, when it is time for the next adventure off the grid, be it overloading, sailing, or self-drive safari, I’d grab the LM Wave, based on the OHO blade, the two bit holders with extender / kit and the pocket clip.

Thanks everybody for the challenge  :salute: ; it was fun. Can I get the badge, please?  ;)
