Love the look of the GS10! I want to see a battle royale between it and a CS Trail Master :jedi:

Ah a fellow Dragonlance fan... What steel do they use on the CS? The Cpm 3v is gonna be tough to beat. IMHO

SAK Guy answered. It was his CS Trail Master I was thinking of since it has already been posted in this thread :) Although CS has started moving to CPM 3V for many of their knives just this year. For example, http://www.coldsteel.com/Product/36CC/3V_Master_Hunter.aspx. So we may eventually see the Trail Master in that steel, too.

I first read the Dragonlance Chronicle trilogy not long after it came out

The Peters heat treat on the Survive knives is one of the best out there... A head to head between to two could be intriguing.

Steel aside, it would be interesting to compare them because of their different overall designs. That, and I want to see Dale and SAK Guy wield them :jedi:   :D

I would also like to see how the GS10 stacks up against similar size Busses. I have trouble imagining that the more expensive Busses would perform better than your GS10. Good thing Survive! knives haven't been on The Walking Dead or they might be more expensive now, too ;)

This "wielding" don't include me and Dale on a Mississippi sandbar does it?  :D

Well . . .  since I used the jedi emoticon, I had imagined a more treacherous situation: battling it out on a rock surface surrounded by magma lava flow. But even though I came up with the idea, my fantasies don't necessarily NEED to influence your choice of location  ;)

It's about $20.00 higher than a reg 119 and worth it I think for the added durability and ability to attach a lanyard.

No,the sheath comes off an eBay auction for about a tenner. I have my baby blue/black Companion in one.

This was made by a friend of my father, 40+ years ago.
Apparently not a knife maker, just one of those handy people.

I grew up admiring it, and I admit as a 12-year old threatened a bully with it
It's now mine 8)
Handle was made from some huge brass piping, you can still see some thread, and as far as my Dad knows the blade is leaf spring...5160.
These pics were taken after spending about 10 minutes with 1500 grit paper and WD40:

And for some scale  :pok:

It's a big old thing but the balance is spot on  8)

Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

Was looking at it again tonight and all the fittings are all blackened steel...that was always a problem I had with Buck, aluminum for the fingerguard and butt. I know it's time tested but I like steel and brass.
