Day 23:

Great pics, guys! :tu:

Woke up to this in Utah this AM.

No uses aside from opening a bag or pork rinds, but the 110 has been a nice companion.

Fuzzy, carrying it in a friction sheath on the belt.

Hotel tonight. Lots of warnings about local bears. Bear proof trash cans outside.

Sharky, dang brother!

I broke my wrist two years ago in a bike misadventure. Heal up quick!

If the 110 is the hard worker, then the 111 Classic must be the church knife. :)

I like your thumbstud there! Did you make that alteration?  :like:
Thank you, Fuzzbucket!
At my job, a one-hand opening knife with a pocket clip is a must. So, those were the only two mods I did to it for the challenge.
Pic of knife with clip side showing.
Nice work.    I have that screw on thumb stud, don't know if I could put a clip on my 1980  :ahhh

I went out and bought a new 110 for the deed(as well as a second one just like it still in the packaging).  :tu:
Definitely don't want to mod a vintage Buck.

Great pic, Nix.  It matches perfectly with the book I'm reading to keep my brain supple and juicy.

The 110 and 55 are CLIP point blades.

The 501 is a drop point. Also the 505 and 503.

At one time Buck’s Custom shop offered a Drop point option on the 110 and 112.  I have found some 112s with drop point on Amazon.

you got more Bucks than I got SAKs  :D
That's loyalty to a brand  :like:
Here is a picture of some of my Buck 110's...there are 5 drop point 110's with S30V blades in it.....3 on the right and 2 on the left.

My toys:

MTs: Surge (2x), Skeletool CX, Rebar, Blast, Fuse, Micra, Squirt (3x), Wave, Crunch, Mini, Spirit (2x), Pro Scout, MP700 (2x), Diesel, Powerlock, PowerPlier (2x), PocketPowerPlier, Blacktip , ST6 (2x), 5WR, A100

SAKs: Bantam, Executive, Ambassador, Minichamp, Classic Alox, Champion, Farmer, Explorer, Swisschamp, Golf Tool, Wenger Champ, EVO 52, Pocket Tool Chest

Definitely don't want to mod a vintage Buck.

If my 110 wasn't a custom piece and a gift from Nix, I'd have modded it the same way you did
The 110 would gain a lot of  :2tu:  for me if I could carry it clipped and open it easily,
so as good as it is it won't replace my Spydercos, Cold Steels and ZT  :ahhh

it's a really solid beast and some complain about its weigh -nowadays we're spoiled with newer materials, plastics, engineering, etc...-  :gimme:
for instance, it weighs a bit more than my 12 inch overall Hold Out I, that is, seven ounces  :o

H.O. weighs 191 grams, Buck 110 weighs 212 grams, and look at the size difference

the big boy also gives me longer blade, one handed operation and a clip. Both are lockbacks and sharp and pointy as hell  :like:

But in all truth if you are used to carrying certain tools and blades it doesn't feel that big and heavy, especially if carried on a belt sheath. Remember that back in the day people used to carry larger weights on them (additional clothing, heavy fixed knives, guns and ammo, and lots of gadgets and gizmos for drinking, gambling, hunting, trading, etc.).

it wasn't until the second half of the XXth century that life became easier and more forgiving, as we could store things in the car, house, office, workplace, bank, etc. and avoid carrying them with us,

To me it's a large EDC folding blade, small being a Slipjoint and most traditionals, medium being a SAK or most modern OHO folders, large being the 110, Spydercos, ZTs and the like (3.5-4.5 inches), and XL being 5 inches or more. All things in perspective   :D

fixed blades are different categories entirely  ;)

so, after all this stupid rambling

DAY 24,
I am enjoying our first sunlight this week and celebrating the arrival of Spring, doing small chores in the mini garden where the 110 opens bags, cuts thorns and does other small tasks

Gorgeous pic, TP!
I am going to keep an eye out for another 110. When I find one that is suitable for modding, I will PM you about modding it for you/sending it to you or just sending to to you as-is for you to mod. Free of charge of course.

Vicman, you are an encourager.  We need more encouragers in this world.    :salute:
Well, I will give you credit to being an “encourager” too.

I just ordered  110 LT instead of the 112 I had in my cart.
Then added a 110 Aluminum as well based upon your earlier (day20) picture share. Did not even tell the Mrs, I am  normally not impulsive like that, put had a good day, actually week, using the 110, and needed to experience less weight for myself. They are to arrive Wednesday and I will be gone until Friday!

And, to top it off, I drift off to sleep at night thinking about making the move to a striker P365 from my hammer fired P250SC.  So far have not found one that I could put my hands on for fit.

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

The 110LT and 110 Aluminum should be interesting to compare to each other in terms of feel. :like: :tu: :tu:

If you are like me it will make for a long week waiting to get back and try them out,

You are a great man Vicman and I love the encouragement sir!  I'm really liking my 110.  I have used mine for pretty menial tasks for the kind of knife it is.  I'm amazed at how adaptable it is though.  For the thickness of that blade, it'll cut cheese almost like an Opinel!  It does everything asked of it well.  I understand how the guys I knew almost 40 years ago got along just fine with only a lockback.  Here's a pic of mine with its sheath and tin.  I wish I had more of the dark roast in this press right now!

Beeing sick, I spent the day in bed, and the 110 spent the day on the shelf.

I love the picture with the tin.   :like: :D :D

I must confess I have just been using mine for menial tasks too, but I must agree that it  has amazing adaptability to do whatever is asked of it well and that is why the average working man embraced it when it was first introduced.

Day 24:

Medical check up and dentist appointment. So no places for a 110.

Chillin at my desk now, listening to some music.

In case you're wondering what I'm listening to, it's the new music from Avicii that was supposed to be released this year.

Day 24 - unable access my hand saw, used the 110’s blade to cut through some tough carbon strands to remove part of a fracture gate arm...
the protruding strands were already seperated.
