What's the other blade, is that... it is, it's a bloody wharncliffe, isn't it?!  :ahhh

The books called Price Guide to Pocket Knives 1890-1970 Jakob N. Jarrett

https://www.amazon.com/Price-Guide-Pocket-Knives-1890-1970/dp/0895380242/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Price+Guide+to+Pocket+Knives+1890-1970&qid=1562440216&s=gateway&sr=8-1

It's good, but not great, it doesn't have a lot of information, but it's does have plenty of (almost entirely) old catalogue reproductions. Annoyingly it misses quite a few major manufacturers though... Like Queen and Camillus for example.
It's not a Wharncliffe.

Wharncliffe has even made it into the Spyderco realm.  The Dragonfly amongst others.

Day 6

An old fave today...

Schrade USA 194OT

Hadn't had this one out in a while.  After I shot the pic and was "fixin'" it, I noticed green gunk in the front scale pin from when I used to carry it in an ancient half rotten leather neck pouch.  :D

Also noticed that the blade tip had dropped slightly out of focus...     I'm still learning the limitations of the camera on this new phone.  Geeze, give me and old Nikon or a Leica...even a View Camera and let me throw the focus where I want it...

At least I could of stopped down a little.... :bnghd:

Me too Jack!  I found out just how versatile a knife this guy is working in the kitchen this morning.  I can see why this knife was a farmer's favorite.

Day 6:

Was out site-seeing here in Chattanooga so not much use.

Did use it once, but could not get a picture. Have to laugh, my wife was not really looking and stuck her credit card into the cash slot at a ticket machine. Haha!!!!

Took my JE Made slippie out and was able to dig it out of the slot. Haha!!!!

Two things this challenge is doing for me...

#1) Allowing me to see a lot of really interesting and gorgeous knives.

#2) Giving me a greater appreciation for the folks that now (many of you...) and once did carry only a traditional folder as their only tool.

Each day it is truly a struggle for me to not grab my Wave, my Hercules, my GAK or even my Pioneer X!!!

The first several days of the challenge I carried only my little no-name stockman, or mini stockman or whatever it is. It got the job done, more or less. However, I did not feel adequately prepared when carrying only that knife in my pocket. It’s limited and small.

The only real thing it had going for me was that it was old and not expensive, so I wasn’t really worried about losing or damaging it.

Since Thursday, I’ve been carrying my JE Made slip joint. It’s great if I need to CUT something, but that is just about all it’s capable of.

It’s also a pricey knife (for me!!)($175) and due to the maker being so far away, in China, getting it repaired would be a nightmare. So, yes, I do worry about it.

Today, for instance, using it to dig my wife’s credit card out of the ticket machine had me a nervous wreck. What if I gouge it??  What if I break the tip??

Now, I didn’t (and wouldn’t) hesitate to use it. I knew it’s shortcomings when I chose to buy it. I didn’t buy it for a shelf Queen. I bought it to use.

But a big part of me would rather have something else in my pocket. On this trip, the OG Wave is in the glovebox of the Highlander and my Hercules (and Pioneer X) is in the suitcase with my clothes.

Just in case. However, when I grab something to cut with or leave the hotel, the traditional knife is what gets dropped in my pocket. As per the challenge.

This one IS going to be a challenge for me!!
