Stihl used to be the preferred ones for us in the 80's. I hope they didn't lose in quality as Ogden seen with other companies over the last 20 years or so.

I wouldn't mind to see some pictures of old tractors  :pok:

Great carry btw. Cody  :tu:

To me, I feel the German made ones are pretty good; my Grandddad's brother had one from the '70s (marked "WEST GERMANY") that was still going strong, and while he has passed away, one of his nephews is still using it. I started that saw myself once, and was surprised at how quick it started. Yet, those made in their Virginia Beach facility, in my opinion, are inferior. I'm looking for one of those older saws, I know I won't be able to find one on eBay or at flea markets since they're valued so highly--so guess I need to start checking yard and estate sales.

Our current oldest tractor is a 1996; a neighbor has a D9H from the 1960s, and there's a junkyard behind a New Holland dealership a couple hours away that has probably a half-dozen tractors from the 1920s-1930s.

Cody, tractor pics are always welcome (even John Deere :D).  I spent my Summers on my grandparents farm, where he used an ancient IH F20 and a slightly newer Farmall M.  I got the chance to run a Cub a few years ago.

I forgot I had this, I suppose this is technically a wharncliffe... but probably on the cusp of being a lambsfoot.

(Image removed from quote.)

That would be a lambfoot.

 :iagree:

I think of a Wharncliffe as being more acute.

That would be a lambfoot.

Well... I did say it was on the cusp.

However, in my defence, it's not a very typical lambsfoot as there is no clear change in angle on the spine (if you know what I mean) that's such a big characteristic of the English pattern, it has a continuous uninterrupted line to the tip a bit like a wharncliffe. Looking at it though, I think you're all right, it's not a proper wharny, like Nix said, it's not acute enough... if David says it's a lambsfoot, then I'm happy to go with that.  :tu:

Here it is with some Sheffield lambsfoot lambsfeet and... ah... the Calf Roper.

I don't mean to sound arsey or contrary, it's just that I used to collect lambsfoot lambsfeet and other farm and garden knives as a geeky teenager.
