Bout forgot to take a pic today, when we were outside.  Finished up this set of pit clog/shoes pin, for my wife.

Addicted to sharp pointy things.

How you like the Wharncliff blade?

I'm using it often David. It's super handy for tasks where a pointy tip is helpful  :tu:
The overall thicker belly gives it a solid feel too.

Great utility blade and I think a perfect match to the clip-point blade  :hatsoff:

... although, I don't have any knife with a speypoint blade to compare :dunno:

Day 5: Got up in the mountain to check the fences. A few trees were down, some near the fences, but nothing damaged the fences. Was going to get them off, but I grabbed the Stihl MS250 in error. It one; is a PITA to start anyway; and the dealer may have messed it up. We have a 011AV as well, from the 1980s, and it has never given us a problem. I can start it without any issue, but the chain has been neglected and is dull. Guess the MS250 is off to the OTHER Stihl dealer, and I'll sharpen up the chain on the 011AV.

These are our only two working chainsaws; we have a couple Poulans that I know still work good, they just haven't been used--that and several McCullochs and Homelites that have not been used in several years; some do not run at all; in fact one was run over by Granddad's old Massey Ferguson track loader (we traded it in about 20 years ago, along with the tractor we had then on a Deere 5400); as well as an old Homelite with a metal body I found in a shed. Been meaning to get some of those working by robbing some of the others for parts. These ain't had any warranty since long before I was born, so I guess I can dive right in. With Granddad's help and informaiton found online, I might figure it out.

(Image removed from quote.)

Stihl used to be the preferred ones for us in the 80's. I hope they didn't lose in quality as Ogden seen with other companies over the last 20 years or so.

I wouldn't mind to see some pictures of old tractors  :pok:

Great carry btw. Cody  :tu:

I do believe... It's a type of lambsfoot or sheepsfoot that used to be referred to as farmers blade... I think because it's a bit beefier.

... Also... a wharncliffe is traditionally a smaller pruning type blade (designed specifically to be used as a gentleman's whittling knife), but it's slender with a straighter edge and doesn't have the hawkbill-ness... if you know what I mean. The blade's also quite small in relation to the handle...  Also... You know what, I'll find a pic...

I edited that as I was getting a bit confused with an Ettrick... which is similar to a wharncliffe...  See what you've started Matt!  :twak:

No, it;s a type of sheepfoot GEC calls a ramsfoot. Here's a diagram I got over at AAPK.

Day6

Saturday, it's been a slow day, went to watch Spyderman Far from Home which was pretty good, and started organizing all the spacers I got for knife/SAK modding.  Posing here is the GEC #97 in yellow rose.  Call me traditional, I think the knife may look better in stag/bone covers.  One of my favorite carry/tool at home is the back scratcher in the middle from Cabela.

Day 6: Just getting started for the day.  Just the Sheepdogs and me! Cutting open a coffee packet is all we've done so far.

I forgot I had this, I suppose this is technically a wharncliffe... but probably on the cusp of being a lambsfoot.

I like the looks of the Grohman. Classic and functional, with tasteful materials. No, I think they did nicely. Seems like a knife that will improve with age and use.

I do agree with you that it would be nice if the second, smaller blade were a Wharncliffe or traditional Spearpoint pen blade shape. Still, a lovely knife.  :like:
