Ron Who - Day 13 - Trapper and SAKs

Today: Böker USA 25th Anniversary Trapper with ivory micarta handles.
And I always carry a few SAKs, even during this traditional challenge.
I would lie if I said I didn´t.
Nice carry for the day.  :like:

Day: 16

I'm blaming this challenge thread, awl you awl, Mark Twain, and, most of awl, McStitichy for this new arrival. It did provide me with a nice 'use' shot to start Day 16, though......

Oh and as for the food, they were doing these fresh grilled lamb kebabs that were to die for! I'd have taken a photo but I was too busy trying not to get grease down my shirt. Wearing a bow tie allows no margin for such errors!

Ohhh... Nix is going to kill you when he finds out!  :ahhh

Vintage Fuzz Day 16

Got some great patina forming here. There's something about the clip-point blade in particular that really lends itself to a nice bit of patina.  :tu:

My wife has always said that she has no problem with me marrying a second wife on condition that she does all the cooking, cleaning, ironing, etc and is not allowed anywhere near the bedroom.

The bright colors are not my usual style, but the Tom Sawyer in me couldn't resist the obvious Union Jack motif.  :tu:

If you look at it in the mirror, with your eyes slightly crossed--not too much, but a little--and a squint, it looks just like a Union Jack.

I'm guessing that Case went with this gaudy handle to honor Sheffield, England, generally accepted to be the origin of the Barlow.   :dunno:

No, you're crossing them too much!  And the angle of my shot might not be purrrr-fect to see it completely.

I put the No 8 to work today fashioning a cap for our septic system after yours truly ran over it with the mower . I cut a 20 oz Coke bottle down and fitted it over the pipe to act as a cap.  I had to use the Spirit's pliers to pull the zip tie securing it tight.  Other than that, it was Opinel all the way!

I'm missing the reference here. As a full time pro photog I can never be bothered taking pics....  :D

Seriously though, this challenge has been really difficult. I don't have a smartphone and I don't take snaps, not my kind of thing. If you want a 800 year old manuscript perfectly reproduced, check. A beautiful landscape, no problem. A nice portrait, can do. Fantasy weird setups that look like a cross between a dream and sci-fi, yeah, I'm good at that. Still life snapshots? Um, which button do I press on this weird black box thing again?

(I used to use one of these actually, MPP, the poor mans Linhof)

Seriously though, taking pics of knives or setting up and photographing this kind of thing, what would you prefer?

When i was a kid we used to have to wait till dinner was served, take a photo, run down the street to the chemist, hang around for sometimes hours waiting on the prints, get prints, run round to your mates house, show the photos then run home and hope the dog hasn't eaten all your food while you were away, digital is so much more convenient and what is more convenient than a camera already in your pocket ready to go, with added bonus it's a phone too  :D
