Sometimes that's the way it goes.

My Case trapper, the Yellow one above, came with a so-so edge.  I was a bit disappointed. However, some work with a fixed-angle sharpener put a wickedly nice edge on it and I've been thrilled with it ever since. It has, as you point out, some real character.  :tu:

I do have a few little corrosion spots on it--I think from carrying it in a pocket on an hot and sweaty day. I'd recommend a pocket slip or caddy during sweaty weather. And maybe keep a little oil on the blade.    :tu:

oh, excellent Avatar pic, too!  :tu:

Thanks Nix

Good tips, I did buy the Case case to protect it  :tu:

A lot of really nice pics and several of nice new knives.  Hopefully all those who have been drawn to purchase new knives based on the pictures here, find one that really fits them like Greg with his new yellow Case Trapper and me with the Sodbuster Jr.

Day 27

Let the duo have some sun light, while out with the dog.

Day 27:

Work day. Drove two hours back to my home town to do some work for the Moms.

For my mom I had to install a new belt on her dryer and replace the dryer vent hose. Once that was done, had to work on her old Mountaineer and get it running.

For the dryer, I don’t have any pics. Was a rough and dirty job. Only thing my 110LT was used for was cutting open packages.

My Hercules did the rest. Removing the screws and using the bottle opener as a pry tool to release the clips holding the top down.

My ST300 was used to cut the wire running inside the dryer vent.

Then, while the Mountaineer is running to build the battery back up, I came down to my mother in law’s house to put together an electric pressure washer she recently bought.

Used the 110LT to open the box...

And to cut the straps on the hose...

Most of the rest of the work was done using my newly acquired Locksmith. It did great with one exception...

The exception...

So all of this...

Became this...

With the help of these...

This thread is awesome, guys! So many great knives and photos! :like:  :dd:

Day 27:

Carried the Marjacq peasant knife today. Forgot to take a usage photo, but did use to clean up some windings and stripping asbestos wrapped wires in an antique Emerson table fan I am restoring. Bought some Cheese Straws on the way home to celebrate having the next few days off. Also bought a new digital camera today. It was $29.99 and 20% off(making it $24 after discount). Nikon Coolpix L27 16MP and 5X Optical zoom.  :woohoo:
Used the Marjacq to open the tape on the camera box and to open the cellophane bag in the cheese straw box.

Day 27. Touched up the 2016. I have all kinds of sharpening stones; but I find a simple ceramic rod does quick touchups just fine.  Counting the times in the 2 years I've owned the knife, plus this challenge, adding the days up, I've probably carried this 110 and used it regularly 2 months.   Yet, it's been used lightly. Definitely not the edge retention of 440C or CPM-154, but the Bos heat treat makes the 420HC hold an edge well.

This was a long ceramic rod with a wooden handle. Yet my clumsiness and a hardwood floor made it a pocket sharpening rod. Thankfully these aren't expensive to replace--think I paid $3 for this rod.
