The Buck 55 was a primary EDC for me for several years. Smaller than some others, true, but it's slim profile made it a great pocket carry. It just disappeared. It was a great all-around knife for office work, etc.... For heavier-duty tasks, a 110 or 112 might be my choice, but for routine, light duty, the 55 is tough to beat. Elegant design, nice lock, solid construction.  :tu:

Probably only 10-20% will make a decent monkey, 95%+ make nice baskets, but there are a small percentage, that are split or broken that get trashed.
Thanks!

:dd: wow that is like brand spanking new look wise! How long have you had it?

At the time two years. :) I used to eat a very salty salami at work which would end up pitting the D2, that and I like a knife to look clean.  :tu: I don't have the knife any more despite it having been an incredible EDC, I sold it and a bunch of others when the kids needed winter coats and we were really tight for cash. I miss it, I had it reground and it was my sharpest, sliciest knife bar none. Never seen anything to match it. Looked great too.

Day 29:

Not much use today as I'm looking forward to a 6 hour drive soon, so a quick last garden pic before we go home

I used to have a D2 bladed knife. Used to spend a lot of time looking like this.

Stocks in Flitz went up when I got into knives.

Lovely knife!  :dd: Is that a Queeny?... Sorry, bit slow...

Edit: I'm even slower than I thought.

Vintage Fuzz Day 28

These two were on kitchen duty today, some... (look away now Pommy)... serious patina starting to build up!  :2tu:

(Image removed from quote.)

Oh... and tonight's dinner, not pasta, but cottage pie made with sliced rather than mashed tatties.

(Image removed from quote.)

Uh... oh...

... that got me thinking now... would it be beneficial for the patina to lick the blades clean?

I would not, ever, lick an Opinel. Although I could do with talking far less than I do, I'm not that desperate to lose my tongue! :twak:
