Day 27: I was in the mood to break out the pipe after getting a bunch of things done around the house.  The Explorer and I didn't make it out after all.

Day 26

Thought I'd share a photo of my Toolbox knife at work
Over the years it's opened parts, cut belts and hoses, it's been a gasket scraper and taken part in many lunches, and who knows what else
It's a beater knife for sure that was found on one of the Islands in Halifax Harbour, and began its life with me as a boat knife
Got to have a beater at work :tu:
I have several

Day 27

Condor Bushlore

When I first got this knife, I was a little underwhelmed.  That was during a phrase when I was actively buying a lot of blades to find the "one", but this knife slowly grow on me.

This knife did teach me quite a few things a long the way--at first the blade used to rust from time to time, and I learned to put a forced patina on it to reduce rusting.

The leather sheath was so tight I was afraid it would burst at the seam when I put the knife in, and I learned to put on leather conditioning to soften it and put the knife in to stretch it out for use.

I have a medium sized hand, but somehow the coke bottom handle might be slightly too aggressive for my taste, and there were rough edges to smooth anyway, So I sanded down the sides of the handle, such that the handle circumference difference won't be too dramatic for my hand.  I don't know whether the designer do that on purpose, but I am grateful the handle pins are out of the way, so this mod is feasible.

In many ways, I have time to bond with this knife and am grateful to have gotten it.

Sorry folks, for being about an hour late posting, found out this evening that my youngest daughter is having a baby...

Explanations out of the way, here's a pocket fixed that I had done some years back.
Congrats

Nice one!

Laconico first got on my radar when Massdrop comes out with his folder, I really like his simple yet elegant design.  I don't know whether you get a chance to get one, but this folder is well executed by WE knives(collab with Massdrop), and one beautiful knife to look at and use:

ooooooh.....really nice. I've never handled one, but Ray has a great intuitive sense of design, I think.  :tu:

There's another nice one. Can't wait to see what you do with it.

Day 27
Used the Hunt'n Fisch to open a bag of potting soil. I'm transplanting some seedlings into pots so I can plant them in my yard in a few months.

Day: 27

Carried this elegant Okamura today:

3.5" cutting edge, D2 steel, hollow-grind. I pick up this one at a knife show in Missoula a few years back. The show was actually being hosted in a motorcycle shop (the reason I was there). Some amazing work at the show. I think Okamura is actually out of Washington state, but he knife was so nice I couldn't hold that against him.  ;)

Day28

Bark River Bravo1 LT

Got this knife just when 3V was gaining popularity for fixed blade couple years ago, and finally a thinner stock of Bravo 1 is offered in this LT format which suited me better.  Overall it's a nice knife, came highly polished(I think they wheel puffed everything including the handle), the balance of knife is somewhere between the index and middle finger, it is acceptable but I do wish they would have skeletonized the handle or give the blade an extra 1/4 in to balance it out.  Extremely aggresive jimping which is a little annoying when doing a chest cut.

The sheath quality is good, but slightly annoying to fiddle the strap out of the way everytime when you put the knife back into the sheath.  I put on ample amount of Obenauf's to soften the leather, so it may appear a little darker than it's normal state, but usually the leather return to its original color after 1 week of time.
