DAY TWENTY
Working out a DIY motor mounting assembly for my RC planes. If I can transfer motors between planes without scrapping them in the process, I can have more planes. :ahhh

Good idea Pabs  :like:

Day 24

Everyone probably knows about the corkscrew trick to untangle anything, but in Soldier case I tried using the awl to substitute that.  But after 30 seconds to a minute failing to try to get to my lunch, I was just too hungry to battle that knot and wing it with a blade.

The 108 mm “stag GAK” helping with breakfast duties.   This is a Vx GAK o bought 2nd hand from a great member here.  I removed the saw/opener layer and fashioned the scales out of white tail deer antler.

Day 24 - Im switching it up and will now be carrying a '09 dated Model 2008.  This knife in particular was gifted to me by our very own Myron and to show my gratitude I've decided to carry this knife for the remainder of our Soldier Challenge.

Have a great week everyone.

And Myron, thanks again sir.  :hatsoff:

The deer ticks are in full swing here.  I pulled one off of me last night, and one off my sheepdog just a few minutes ago.  I wish the Soldiers came with tweezers.  Luckily, I pack a Classic on my keychain.  I understand why they don't, having been a soldier myself, but tweezers sure come in handy.

When it comes to the new Soldiers... the scales with the tweezers and toothpick are much more rugged.  The new Soldier scales have too much give especially on the widest part that sticks up above the blade tip.  I've bent the scale ends on this modern Soldier at that spot more than once now just from dropping it here and there in my travels, whereas the Trekker I would normally carry has been banged up the same way for years and never had an issue.  There's a trade off with having a grippier, rubberized set of scales on this new modern Soldier.  Honestly, after this challenge I may end up putting a set of red or blue scales on mine since I'm EDC'ing it now.

This is really going to be a bad year for the deer ticks with the mild winter we've had.  I've pulled a few off myself now as well.

Good to know. I have limited experience with the rubberized scales and had in mind to switch my Trekker to Desert tan scales... If not Navy camo. My main reason for switching to grippy scales is for ease of one hand opening.

That's worth keeping in mind

I agree Craftsman.  I was also considering a civilian suit for my GAK.
It's officially discharged from Army duty anyways :D
