Absolutely. My next order I will do on the phone...seeing that I need to call Leatherman the day after I place my order online anyways.

Funny story. One employee I talked to, after finding out I was not selling them on eBay, and directing her to my Leatherman collection page...asked me If I have some Leatherman stickers. I told her I did but nothing recent. She asked me to email Leatherman to ask for stickers. The best part...I was to place her name in the asking. At this point I am thinking this is all very odd. They have my freaking address and all. Why did she not just send me some. It would have made me feel better with my issues with dealing with Leatherman. I figure what did I have to lose. I sent them an odd little email saying so and so told me to email Leatherman to get some free stickers.

They responded 2 days later telling me they did not have any promotional items for me...but if I was to watch their website...soon they will have some items I could purchase from them.

Leatherman is going downhill quick. I had stopped buying Leatherman 5 to 7 years ago when US companies were not allowed to sell to Canadians anymore. I called Leatherman at the time and they told me I would have to go through Canada's official Leatherman distributer...Canadian Tire. Well they only sell 5 models at best. Check mate for this collector!

During my not collecting Leatherman time, Leatherman made a website to sell their tools in Canada, but I was only made aware of this in the last few months. Because of what happened before, I was not all that surprised the company would make me jump through flamming hoops to deal with them. Problem is up here in Canada...I have little to no choice if I wish to add to my collection. Even at that, Leatherman only offers a limited selection compared to what they offer in the US. I have no clue why that is.

They sure do not like their foreign collectors very much. I am fully expecting them to tell me I can no longer buy tools from them in the future.

I typed all of this on my cell phone...I need a good

  I'm glad you are getting some new LMs for your collection.  I do hope they get their ISH together and make better partners with their distributors over seas and borders.

Yeah, I know, but this time it's because of the movement of the bolster it's attached to. Did you see the dirty big gap?

I do now,     is it because it's loose or is the gap the regardless of how tight the bolster is ?

I buy used tools so any issues I may run into i don't fuss about too much.

Chako, LM should not be treating any customer as if they are lucky to buy from them let alone make it hard to buy from them.

Yep, that's definitely the way to go these days.

It's as tight as it can be without hampering the deployment of the tools inside. I'm past caring now, it just annoyed the heck out of me this morning as I was up a ladder with only one hand free trying to wrestle it out of my jeans... the tool... the Leatherman.

That bolster is the worst I have ever seen on a Leatherman. I would not be able to live with that at all.

I'm not bothered about the clip really, it's more the poorly fitted wobbly bolsters that annoy me. Other tools don't have that problem, the Wave is nice and tight in that area (snigger), but that gap when the bolster's twisted is close to 2mm!  :ahhh

This prompted me to check mine and it is the same. Loose bolsters on that handle and if tightened no go on the tools deploying. The other handle the bolsters are tight and tools deploy smoothly.

Nothing much. I checked on it...dated 1113 (newer as in 7 years old now). Everything looks and feels good. I gather quality control has only slipped in the past few years?

I'm carrying a Wave (08/10) today and the difference in tolerances is staggering. Just look at that, almost as solid and close fitting as my fantastically tight jeans!  :ahhh

And for comparison, the Surge again:

One moves ever so slightly but not so much that it creates a wide gap.  The other three are solid.

Like, that's a huge gap. ??? :to:
Is it the bolster or the side panel that is too short and causing the gap?
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

I'm done with LM and Gerber...and SOG.....

Any company without the pride to produce a quality tool....every time...is of no interest to me.

I feel the same for quite a while I must say  :-\
I've acquired some of the good old ones that serve me well. And that seems to be it for now.

No it's just fitted with a very low (sloppy) tolerence, so it slides about and rotates a bit when it shouldn't producing a gap on one side. I had noticed it before and it annoyed me then too, but it became even more noticeable when I fitted the clip to it.  :ahhh
