<---- left handed. The Kel-Tec ejects downwards. A big plus for people like me.

I have a Hatsan Escort Aimguard 12 gauge with a 14" barrel. It is a Turkish firearm but an easily recommended piece. Never an issue with all types of ammo. I also have a Remingto 870 SPS Super Mag Turkey shotgun. I had issues with this one. Broke 2 factory red dot sights. I did not install the 3rd one. I installed a barrel shroud with built in ghost ring sight, and a magazine extension. The Hatsan never had any issues. My 870 had feed problems that took a while to eliminate. Now it works great but took 2 seasons to fix it. The shotgun jammed so bad twice I had to hit it hard on a picnic table to clear the ejection port. I am happy the Remington now works as it should. Those are my 12 gauge shotguns. I also have a nice bolt action Mossberg 20 gauge with box magazine and built in polychoke. That is a nice shotgun.

I did look long and hard at the Kel-Tec and Utas a few years back. I just never saw the need to add another shotgun however tempting it was.

One of the sacrifices of the KSG is the fact that you can’t toss a round directly into the chamber and fire. Also, ejection and loading the next round happen really close, and clearing malfunctions does not seem to be that easy. That said, for many people that is a trade-off that is more than worth it for the reduced footprint and increased capacity.

Pretty well my thoughts on it.  Everything has a tradeoff, you just have to take what works best for you with your needs.   :)

Very interesting.
From an engineering perspective, I have to wonder, what's the catch? Almost sounds too good to be true.

From the non-engineering perspective the main catch is the cost: Most Bullpups are 2 to 4 times the cost of an equivalent "traditional" firearm from what I have observed. However, I feel like this is due to more the current lack of options and limited production numbers rather than more costly design/materials.

Eventually the costs will come down when people begin to move away from the AR platform; perhaps if the US goes to a bullpup design as their next general infantry weapon.
