EDC 08:

It has been a bit warm here lately (6ºC today), so Mrs Nix suggested a picnic. We headed over to the local reservoir to enjoy some time by the water (in years past, I might have gone ice-fishing at this time.).

Water level is low!

Adventure Boy didn't mind at awl.....

(Image removed from quote.)

We kept him on a leash so he would not disturb the numerous ducks and geese in the area.

Used the 58mm to open a package of Adventure Boy's "Hardtack".

(Image removed from quote.)

Really nice day for a picnic. In addition to ducks, geese, and shore birds, we saw a couple herds of deer and a big herd of Pronghorn antelope. Also saw a Bald Eagle, Ravens, and Magpies (eating a dead deer).

Adventure Boy was well satisfied with the outing, not the least for his hardtack and a bit of my ham sandwich.   ;)

Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

Day 9

Nothing much to report today, just a glamour shot of Mountaineer at dinner.

Good morning everyone.  I'm saddened to say that I have no bacon but I do still have some spiral cut ham left over from Thanksgiving.  I will just have to persevere.   I'm presently charging the camera battery, and will be on the road later today. I will take a picture in a few hours if I survive the downtown traffic  :twak: and post it this evening.

"Glad to see another Mountaineer in the group, how do you like it so far?   Do you think it would be more convenient to clip the LM onto your pants?" - Comis

I like the mountaineer very much, but I still like to have a saw so it pairs perfectly with the Leatherman Sidekick.  I prefer to use the leather pocket scabbard because it keeps heavy multitools from tearing the corner of my pocket or wearing holes in the bottom of my pockets.  That said, the Sidekick isn't heavy at all so it probably will be more convenient to carry it by the pocket clip. I'll try it and report back.

We managed to lose all the keys of a door at home so I had to pick it to remove the lock.
the SOG PPP helped fashion a flag lock pick from a binder pick handle.

I used a mini drill chuck 1/4 adapter as handle.

It took several tries but finally I managed to pick and remove the it.

EDC 09:

Used the BAK to cut up and apple for lunch. The BAK was more awkward for this task than I expected. However, job done, apple shared with Mrs Nix.  :tu:

Day 09
This evening I've used the Executive to open a net of logs...

...the Zippo to light them up for a cosy fire...

... and my phone to make this little slow motion gif of the flames...

DAY 9

This evening was a Skype call with friends, whom Mrs Surge & I had exchanged "Secret Santa" gifts with  :tu:

I used my GPT to open mine (overkill) but, as I was using the phone for Skyping, I couldn't take a shot  ::)

So, here is said GPT with my present (Pewter & Brass) posing afterwards  :D

Day 9

Not a lot of uses today, it is a computer work day. Maybe later  :dunno:

It came along walking the dogs in the morning. Wore the buff around my neck. Mornings are chilly here, even though it is way too warm for the season throughout the day. Today it was 15C  :ahhh
