I would ask Nix for tips, he has done some very nice sheaths :tu:

Sent fra min M2002J9G via Tapatalk

I've done a few good sheaths....along withe some others....

Still, a slip should be fairly easy. Use thin leather, not sheath-thickness leather. A couple of mm, should be more than ample.

Use the knife and some heavy paper or card stock to make a pattern. Leave your self a wide edge to sew--you can always trim it down later.

Fairly straight forward, but the devil is in the details. Take your time and proceed with deliberate care.   :tu:
You made it sounds so simple that I just have to try it...meanwhile, I did manage to find my secret stash of small leather slip for knives(a CRK small, GEC small, and a few others), so doing a slip may become a purely academic exercise now.

Great photo - you can almost feel the mood coming through the picture! And the emotion it is conveying is one that I am a big fan of :)

Not leather but I use Sackups  :salute: they stretchy, grey, fabric, silicone coated pocket slips and are in different sizes and offer some water resistance with its silicone coating  :tu:

 :nanadance:        :nanadance:
Good call!  I used a fair amount of Sackups(sounds funny) early in my knife collecting 'career', but one slight problem is the newer ones are always infused with silicon, and it felt and made everything look 'wet'.  If I were start carrying one in my pocket, I'm sure most folks would think I just peed my pants(and explaining I have a new Sackup in my pants probably won't help either...) :ahhh :D

Day 17
The 2G Wave sectioned a nectarine for a snack.
Just kinda curious which G are we in nowadays? 5G? :pok:

The pic was before he got to it, but it was definitely clean after.  He acts like the pouch alone is a treat, even though the contents of it are in his bowl.   He is also a big fan of cheese stick wrappers.

That's really cool, always being appreciative of what he could get really is a virtue. :tu:

... and... it's back!

Poker Day 17 (bonus action shots):

White chili. This is not my usual chili. When Mrs Nix requests a "bowl of red", that usually means beef, New Mexico chiles, garlic, cumin, etc.....  This is a bit of a departure for me.

And, yes, 'white chili' implies.....chicken*.

(Image removed from quote.)

This was a fat local chicken. The Farmer made short-work of piecing it out for the stock pot.

(Image removed from quote.)

No fancy knife work here. The bird got pieced out and poached with the onion from my first Day 17 photo. (Actually, after this photo, the legs were separated from the thighs and the wings were cut up, too.)

Now, chiles, garlic, cumin, onions, a little chili powder, beans and chicken stock are simmering away. It smells amazing.

Once my beans are cooked, I'll add back in the chicken meat and some thickeners (masa harina mixed with milk). Dinner should be quite acceptable this evening. I don't think Mrs Nix will be disappointed by this atypical chili.

* Chicken is obvious, but I would prefer Turkey. Mrs Nix likes chicken more....and...since this is a challenge...I went with chicken.
Poker Day 17 (follow-up shot):

The Chicken-poblano chili turned out to be quite good. If you asked me, I'd have said it needed a few more Jalapeños, but Mrs Nix liked it as it was served.

(Image removed from quote.)

The Farmer more than proved itself for this chicken challenge.  :tu:
That definitely is one of the more interesting challenge chicken dish I have seen, chicken chili?  Who'd think of that?

That is one good looking knife comis :like: :tu:
:hatsoff:

Here is a pic of the one I am using for the No 8

(Image removed from quote.)

(Actually, Buck Knives got me with a special offer last night. Word to the wise: don't have a second glass of wine and cruise the internet.)
I've read many online seller recorded historic high revenue last year, and "drink and shop" was a real contributing force behind it last year.

DAY 17

Burst pipe, rolling blackouts, downed powerline... Texas is going through some stuff right now.

But I have a hand warmer and a N°08!

(Image removed from quote.)
Please continue to stay dry, warm and safe!

Day 18

(Image removed from quote.)
Wow, that's a pizza! :o

Day 18
Another snack picture, although this one made by the wife.
Sidekick helped cut open the package.
(Image removed from quote.)

The Wave also has been used so far today.  The scissors were used to trim the wick and then the driver to change the flint and install a gasket that is suppose to help decrease evaporation.
(Image removed from quote.)
Come to think about, it does make pretty good sense and why don't we see this product sooner?   Hope it does what it suppose to.

Day 18...

(Image removed from quote.)

Pokey has enjoyed me being home during the Snowpocalypse. I’m back to work tomorrow.  So, I am enjoying a leisurely morning with my best friend, coffee, and this butterscotch micarta Zulu.
Fantastic capture! :like:

Day 18
Sunbathing at -29 C:
(Image removed from quote.)

Well, it was -29 in the morning, by the time I took the photo it was some -24 only.
In any case, coldest day in some 5 - 6 years

That's just cold!  Even mild wind in that temp probably would chill me down to the core. :o

Spicy hot pot dinner tonight!   Mrs is a big fan of all things spicy, so we do have spicy food rather regularly.  LM P4 was useful for unwrapping some of the packaged food, and sorry for the slightly out of focus pix, I was hungry. :D

That pizza looks amazing!

Day 17

Technically a failure today? I cut my nails with a Classic, I'm sure the Obake is up to the task, but I like my actual fingers the length they are.

(Image removed from quote.)

These challenges are amazing! The only problem I see is that my willpower for resisting these tools is so low...I loved that Obake so much I had to find out more about it.  And of course, one is now on its way to my house

It's a really nice knife, I'd like the shorter version of it at some point. Would you mind showing your different carry options? That sounds really interesting, atm I just shove it in a pocket.

GF, sorry for taking so long to reply. Pictured are 3 of my five -the other 2 being neck carry with a ball chain and static cord for IWB carry.

Top is a clip for in-line carry on a belt. You could also use it for scout style carry.

Middle is a metal clip  to carry inverted, such as in the arm pit of a jacket. It could also be clipped to the bottom of a pants pocket to keep the sheath in place while drawing.

The bottom knife is mounted to a Pocket Shield which lessens the print of the knife in a pocket. Other gear may also be mounted to it -flashlights, etc.

Welcome to the Cult of the Obake.
-Todd

I managed to get one of those awkward pictures where you contort yourself at a weird angle to take a picture with the camera in your off side hand of using your tool with your strong side hand on your off hand side.
I used the scissors to cut a thread that was coming off my pants pocket.
