The eBay listing is actually cheaper, it was $6 shipping for me from Leatherman, while it was free on eBay. Unfortunately I bought the Leatherman listing the second I saw it so I spent $6 more than I needed to lol.

If you buy a certain amount from LM you forgo the shipping  ($50 dollars I believe) the Bond is a nickel shy of that and you need something else to bump the price above 50. I think I had something else in my cart whilst thinking about buying it and it would have been free shipping but of course I also had the other thing in the cart that I was buying ::) So it saved me some money by not buying the other thing :D

Sorry you ended up paying for shipping

I believe it was actually $75 (IDK if that changes based on your location) and I didn't feel like adding another tool to my cart. My bank account is empty enough right now

The Bond is listed on Heinnies now, and the price is surprisingly reasonable at 60 quid! For the first time in years,  I'm excited by a new LM!
Not my thing but, now showing "out of stock" https://heinnie.com/leatherman-bond/

I'm sure it'll be back soon for those interested parties  :tu:
They don't like it up 'em!

Sadly the one I bought is a gift for a fellow Leatherman lover, so I won't get to mess with it too much, but soon I would like to mess with one for modding. But no :twak: I have to finish the projects I'm working on now before I start another  In the future I hope they offer the Bond in black oxide, I asked in the online chat and they said they didn't have a plan in the works for it in black oxide which makes me sad.

Confirmed that a scissor can go instead of the lanyard. Snug but works. Can't upload the pics ..stupid MB limit...

I saw your pic in youtube. What a lovely tool.

Why does it have a lanyard ring? It has the holes for the Free lanyard ring. Or pocket-clip. Why is the folding lanyard ring there?

Depending on how these sale, I would say BO could be a thing as they already have all the internals in BO with the Rebar and the plier head use to be in BO on many models as well... The only thing that would have to be made is the handles

That is unless the internal tools are different than the Rebars and don't have the locking notch in them  I will see when mine gets here :salute: unless anyone else who already has one wants to jump in and answer ;) :D

In the Maxlvledc video it appeared to have the locking notches, the locking system appears identical to the Kick. Uses the same tools as the locking version but isn't actually locking

locking notch is identical, noticed this in my unboxing, was really happy to see that.

So here is my story again with Leatherman...
Went to my local gun shop (very bad service but they had Sig magazines in stock) and I got my Bond from them for $45.98
I was really excited and it was a surprise that they have it in stock on the launch day, since their multitiool section is not well managed at all.
I ordered a pocket clip several days ago from amazon (according to Leatherman this is the right clip and same for the Free and Bond series) so long story short,I do is to insatll the clip on the tool.

SURPRISE! THE SCREWS PROVIDED WITH THE CLIP ARE TOO LONG AND PRESS ALL THE TOOLS AGAINST EACH OTHER AND CANNOT OPEN ANY TOOL ON THAT HANDLE.

I can´t believe that Leatherman did not think of that!
Once again a problem with a brand new tool since the beggining...

Pics shows the marks that the screws left on the screwdriver by being to LONG
Enjoy!

Well that sucks. Is it just me or do those screws look longer than normal? I don't own a free clip so I can't check but they look longer to me

I wonder how long until we'll be seeing $25-30 Bonds? I know you can pick up a Free T2 now on eBay for around $25 now ,and they're $40 MSRP.

The Bond does feel thinner and lighter in the hand than the Rebar, which is not surprising considering that, well, the Bond is thinner and lighter.  It doesn't seem like a sibling to the Rebar, but rather a wholly different creature.  I like it, far more so than the P series which was of course thicker and heavier and spendier.  Plier deployment is stiff, as to be expected on a new tool.  Everything else is as you would expect.  Gripping the plier is comfy due to the rolled edges.  And yeah, if you plan on using the P-series clip, I'm not sure what screws you would use because they would have to be very short - just the thickness of the metal body which isn't much.  I have a P-series clip on order, but I'm sure the screws will be way too long.  So that's a little bit of a snafu.

I contacted Leatherman customer service and axed if the name "Bond" had any significance.  She thought not, but was going to query the marketing department about that one.

The Bond comes with a nice belt sheath with metal snap.  The Chinese-made sheath is proportionally smaller than other LM sheaths, but still big enough to easily accommodate either the Bond or Rebar.

But yes I'm very happy with the Bond, and the price point is not bad.  But the clip issue needs to be resolved.  I emailed LM customer service, but honestly doubt that they have nailed this one down just yet.

The Leatherman Bond is Powernoodle Approved.

The Bond's date codes.

I will also reiterate something that was noted in the video above.  The blade and tools "lock" open very firmly.  IMO, there is little chance that they will close on you in normal usage.

Bond, top.  Rebar, bottom.  Its not clear why the Bond's file is shorter with a different profile, as there appears to be enough room in the body to accommodate the Rebar's file. [See Steve's post below]. The files are otherwise similar with single etching on one side, cross-etching on the other and a filed lower surface for grooving.  The blade, drivers and can openers appear to be from the same parts bins.

You have an early Rebar the changes to the shorter file at some point early on. Disappointed to hear about the pocket clip screws  :-\

Understood about the file, thanks.

I got the bright idea (duh  ???) to remove the clip and screws from my Free P4 and try it on the Bond.  It all works just fine.  Tango's screws (above) look a lot longer.  The screws from the P4 are short enough not to penetrate the handle too much, and do not rub against the tool set.  Its all good.  Being short screws, they would certainly benefit from some Loctite, though.

Leatherman tells me that the clip and screws for the FREE P, T and Bond are the same.  The screws for the K are longer and will not work with the Bond.  That must be what Brother Tango has.
