Have you guys seen this?  What a complement to the Evolution/Evogrip knives and all SAKs in general.

Never seen the corkscrew used to anchor the SAK to the end of a long pole before.  Very neat.

Thank you, sire.  He is 50% standard poodle, 25% golden retriever and 25% black lab.  Both of his parents were doodles, which makes him an elusive double doodle.  This doesn't mean anything except that it drives up the price.  The upside is that poodles are quite intelligent, and doodles don't shed.  He also has blue skin, which derives from the poodle line.

Too much info, I know.  But now that the Powernoodle Juniors are emancipated, we now have John Adams and a 15 year old cat to keep us busy.  And MTO.

 :salute: :salute: :salute:

We need lots of photos of him in the pets thread.  :tu:

Day 8, one of the little known advantages of Wenger vs Victorinox if you like the T-shank Phillips driver is it’s compatibility with the Leatherman bit adapter. In-line Vic’s Phillips works well also, but you have to modify the Vic’s T-shank to make it work.

Hope they don't keep you too busy. Two little kittens (about three months old) are keeping me busy! And my dog should show up in this challenge sometime.

Day 8

The challenge is getting difficult... I'm missing my multitools.  I still have 3 other reasons I don't like this tool, but instead I'll explain why I purchased it.

The first SAK I really liked was a Classic, and I carried it for several years. Wanting something larger, I tried several larger SAKs, but I didn't like how tight the tools were.  On someone's advice, I tried a mid-sized SAK (a 74mm Executive) and it was perfect!  I looked for others in the same size, but I could only find an Ambassador, which I also liked.  I later discovered the 84mm size, and I had high hopes that it wouldn't have tight tools like my 91mm SAKs.  I wanted scissors, and the only 84mm I could find with scissors at the time was the EVO S14 I'm using for this challenge.  As is obvious from my other posts, I wasn't happy with it.

Here's my daily action shot - opening a box I received in the mail

Day 9
October 9

Did ‘minor’ grocery shopping just for some goodies to celebrate our wedding anniversary on the 15th.

The warehouse club doesn’t use bags so I have to takedown the boxes after use.

I see there's been a bit of a theme earlier for hats relating to the rounders...

I'm no major expert, but yeah, I know. ::)

 Now those I can appreciate!
(But we’ll have to wait until next year to see them in action again)

I was out tonight, but sounds like the Red Sox game was exciting! The last I saw was 5-2 TB, so I was a bit shocked when I next checked in the 9th.

Tet, this is the kitchen-dwelling Wera screwdriver I was referring to, with the long bit I need to tighten up the handles on my saucepans. I’m a big fan of Wera tools, having a few of their socket sets, bit sets, stainless steel hex keys, joker spanners, bit sets etc - those and PB Swiss Tools make up most of my non-bicycle related tools (with Wiha, Knipex, etc other bits and bobs)…. Tool purchases are really investments,,,,, !!!!

Love it mate!  I’ve got the same driver, it’s fantastic. I’ve got the metric and imperial hex sets, and some bits. I’ve really been tempted by the jokers, but haven’t made the plunge.
What bike tools do you use?

Day 8

The grandkids are staying with us tonight, so pizza for all.

Day 8

(Image removed from quote.)

Today is a 100th Anniversary Wenger Soldier.

What a beauty  :like: :hatsoff:

Hey, we use the same beard balm.  :D

I really like the Bull Dog Gareth, nice and easy to apply. I use that and Reuzel mostly  :tu: :tu:

Day 8.

Evo 17 for me today.  Frankly the saw and scissors combo is my favourite SAK combo and this way you get a more pocket version of the Huntsman.  Was doing a bit of work at the shooting range this morning but it was way too wet to take my phone out and take any action shots.  :D

(Image removed from quote.)

:iagree: Saw and scissors combo is my fave for an all round SAK too, I’ve an Evo18 rather than 17, great SAK IMO… again like you other faves are huntsman and in my case FX, love some alox  :D
…although I’ve that many faves it is hard to choose

Day 5: Opening an essential in my household!  The mighty PTC to the rescue.

PGT and PTC  :like:
We need lots of photos of him in the pets thread.  :tu:

Your dog is absolutely adorable!!!  :like:

Day 8

20211008_160448 by Humayd a r Mahomedy, on Flickr
20211008_160544 by Humayd a r Mahomedy, on Flickr

today i sliced a "custard apple" [what we call sugar apple here in Durban,RSA].
it wasn't completely ripe but was still tasty

Yum love a custard apple

I´m not in the challenge but would like to post a pic and share some thoughts.

This is my Wenger S17 BSA Forester. I also have a Wenger Evo17, with the evo scales but no lock.

I carried this knife for a few years in my jacket pocket. I never had any problems with the lock release button snagging, but I can imagine that it would in a tighter pocket.

I like the flat scales better than the Evolution scales, which are a bit flimsy imo.

Comparing the scissors to Vic´s, I would say that Vic´s are better at nail clipping. For tasks like cutting fishing line, I prefer the Wenger (even though the Vic performs fine). The scissors´ action may feel strange until you get used to it.

The saw is a bit on the short side, I´m accustomed to larger ones these days, but iirc it never disappointed me.

:like: Great to have you join in Ron  :hatsoff:

I’m really pleased to see some good discussion re Wenger scissors in this challenge, I’ve never had much of a problem with them and find they cut most things well, perhaps because I use nail clippers rather than scissors that’s not been an issue.
I’ve long been surprised as how much criticism they receive tbh, as I say mostly worked well for me…although having said that if I had to pick I would choose VIC scissors

Day 8

Using my BY SAK to open beer….  M61 2000??       ‘72

My sophisticated new ‘Roman’ tankard - birthday present yesterday courtesy of my 3yr old daughter.

:like: That tankard is seriously cool  :like:

Day 08
The serrated Highlander helped prepare lunch.

 These are making me hungry and I’ve only just had lunch  :tu:

The Evolution/Evo Grip 17/18 with it's complement of tools is ready to handle any outdoors challenge, as well as most urban EDC tasks.

 :iagree: :like: :tu:

Have you guys seen this?  What a compliment to the Evolution/Evogrip knives and all SAKs in general.

Really enjoyed that, nice share Max  :hatsoff: :tu:

Day 08 (bonus food shots):

Later, Rangergrip helped in harvesting and trimming a few beets for supper. Love me some roasted beets.

Day 9

Out and about with the Wenger.

I was thinking the same thing about the serrated scissors, even though my Wenger doesn't have them, regarding what Ron Who was saying about fishing line. The Vic ones fray braided line. Good fishing scissors are serrated.

Adam5, I want that pizza!

Thanks Echotech.  I really found fascinating in the video how with the small 85/91 mm SAK wood saws you can cut large branches with diameter much bigger than the length of the saw blade with the right technique.

Day 9.

Sticking with the Evo 17 today.  Dug out an old (and inexpensive) watch that I'd not worn in years.  Unsurprisingly the battery was dead.  Not that I'd recommend it with a quality timepiece but the can opener did get the back off and hook out the dead cell.

Tet,

Some Campagnolo tools I’ve had for over 40 years now, some Shimano, but mostly Park Tools which I’ve acquired over the years as needed or when going cheap!

Day 9

:mail:  Postie dropped off a parcel, used the main blade of my RangerWood 55 (bought when it was going at a massive discount - not an EDC option round here, which is a shame as I like it a lot!) to liberate some more ink…

Aye, they're going away just in time for the Leafs wooly hat to come out for the next round of disappointment!

Hoping to get back over relatively soon (I should've been there last summer...) It'll be nice to be stood at the back to the "Flight Deck", leaning on a shelf with a beer and a hotdog pretending to understand what I'm watching...
