Honestly, as a user, I have never liked the MiniTool.  As a collectible, it is absolutely in the "must have" category, but beyond being a show piece, I just don't see the appeal of it.

That said, I do have several...

One of the earliest tools that we branded with the Multitool.org Logo was this- the Gerber Artifact.

The Artifact and its smaller brother, the Shard have been among my favorite keychain tools since they were launched.  The simplicity of the X Acto blade means the Artifact can be rendered bladeless or replaced easily for versatility or simply instead of resharpening.

Find out more about the Artifact with the Multitool Encyclopedia!  https://wiki.multitool.org/tiki-index.php?page=Artifact

Love the Artifact but the blade rusts easily when you pocket carry it. It's the only thing I don't like about it.

Fortunately it is easily replaceable!

Here is today's!

When we think of Victorinox, we think refined, precise designs- but even monkeys fall out of trees, and when that happens, we get things like this- the SportRatchet!

This ugly duckling may not have been a commercial success, but it is of huge interest to collectors both because of it's rarity and its absurdity!

Learn more about the SportRatchet at SAKWiki.com!  https://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=SportRatchet

Honestly?

I haven't a clue what is next.  Each day I rummage around in the collection and pull something out that catches my eye.  The only caveat I have is that I try not to do the same brand two days in a row... although with the vast array of Victorinox models, that rule doesn't really apply to them.   :D

Another forum shout out.  :D

Kershaw's Select Fire, designed by Gavin Hawk is, in my opinion anyway, one of the best "Tool knife" type designs out there.

The bit driver is nice and long to access recessed screws, carries four bits in pop out carriers, and is completely unobtrusive when using the knife blade.

All that, and is has a bottle opener too!  Join the discussion at Multitool.org!  https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,35541.0.html

I'd also like to point out.... no duplications.   :D

I tried to be positive, despite absolutely hating this piece of junk.  Did I succeed?

One of the more budget friendly models from Leatherman is the Rev.  With its high polish and stylish looks, it looks better than it's price tag would imply!

Unlike the Sidekick and Wingman (Leatherman's other budget models) the Rev's pliers are not spring loaded.

The pics you made are probably better than the Rev  :D but I have heard some say that the plier head of the Rev is better than the Wingman and the Sidekick  :dunno: :D

Also of note, the Rev and the LM Leap share the same plier head

I'd rather have the Leap than the Rev.  It is, without a doubt, my least favorite Leatherman, even lower in my mind than the Tread.

I'm glad you like the pics though!

Today's is a tool I absolutely love and I wish had been produced longer and done more with it.

Gerber's Flik multitool may have been short lived, but that is more likely due to its complicated design rather than it's popularity.

It featured handles that separated to keep from pinching the skin of your hand during use, a common problem with older model Gerbers and the Wave/Charge series from Leatherman.

Learn more about the Flik and its variants with the Multitool Encyclopedia! https://wiki.multitool.org/tiki-index.php?page=Flik

With so many plier based multitools on the market, the Guppie from ID Works (produced by CRKT) with its adjustable wrench was achieved needed change.

It is compact, with a carabiner instead of a sheath, a pocket clip, flashlight, one handed opening, non locking blade, an LED light and bit driver with magnetic carrier holding 4 bits.  That's a lot of versatility in a small package!

I love Wenger Knives, and this serrated Journeyman is an excellent example of why.

It's very compact, has what you need and the pliers are slip jointed, allowing the jaws to open wider for bigger tasks.

The Journeyman is also available with a plain edge main blade for those that don't like serrations, and/or with a nail file instead of a small blade.  Read all about it at SAKWiki.com!  https://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Journeyman

Me too.  How do you feel about 108mm models?   :D

Time for some 108mm love!   When you need a simple, no nonsense pocket knife this Victorinox Solo from the Safari series is an excellent choice.

It's important to always note this is a 108mm model, as the name Solo is currently in use for a 93mm ALOX model, and this model was originally called the Adventurer, which is currently in use for a 111mm model.

Victorinox may get confusing when it comes to model names, but you can keep them straight with SAKWiki.com!  https://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Solo

Thanks, I am glad to hear you are enjoying them!

It's neat to see which tools are resonating with people and which ones aren't.  These probably hit their best stride on Facebook, both on my own page and the MTO page, rather than bringing discussion here, which is preferable for a great many reasons.

But I will keep at it- I have a lot of collection to go through before I get into reruns, so hopefully it will hit its stride sooner or later!  :D

Safari is 108mm.
Gardeners are 110mm.
Big Victorinox models like the Workchamp and OHT are 111mm.
Old Wenger Rangers are 120mm.
New Wenger Rangers and the big Victorinox Delemont models are 130mm.

But you know all of that is available on SAKWiki.com anytime, so it's kind of pointless to mention it here!   :D

Today's is a fun one that I'll bet few remember, or even know existed.  Plus you can see shades of it's design in modern tools....

But why am I saying that?  It's all in the post below....

You probably don't remember this one, but I was thrilled when I saw it for the first time at the SHOT Show in 2011.

The Gerber Fit was an important piece of multitool design evolution, and you can see bits of it in the modern day Armbar and Center Drive.

Read all about this fascinating part of multitool history one our forum!  https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,25396
