Hello day 7.
Been busy with a Nanoblock project so the Mini has been handy in removing mis laid bricks.
Nanoblocks are like Lego but 15mm long and 3mm deep.
This project is over 1100 blocks and will post pick when done.

Day 7

Today I will report the use of another multitool other than the :ahhh Mini :ahhh . I normally carry a Micra and use it to trim and file my nails.  Since I am carrying the Midnight Manager SAK this month (for the Philip's head), I decided to try using those scissors instead.  The small SAK scissors were too small for the task, so I gave up after one nail and I used my Micra for the rest... MUCH better  :tu:

After I was done trimming my nails with the scissors, I actually tried filing my nails with the :ahhh Mini :ahhh file... I would say it is a less than ideal file for finger nails, but it worked.

Day 8

February 8

I’m excited to post this one!

I used the can opener of the Mini when I was preparing breakfast this morning!

It goes without saying that here are my observations:

Steps to use the can opener:
1. Open up the tool
2. Fold out the handles to deploy the can opener.

So far pretty normal, right? A Wave/Surge/Curl or Rebar/SuperTool/Bond and every other MT with inside tools would follow the same steps.

See the first picture?  When applying force to pierce the lid, the encircled pivot would want to fold (since it was designed to work when applying force to the pliers and not the can opener).  This leads us to….

3. Close the MT.  See second picture.

This is our instinct — If the implement folds over, we close the tool to try to hold it in place.  The handles do not to lock in place enough to keep the can opener from folding at the pivot, so we close the tool in the hope that it will keep the can opener in place.

The third picture shows the need for my thumb to help press down / keep down the edge.  Either way, the Mini’s can opener will open a can.

Will I use it to open another can? Hell NO.  If it was any other day like this Tuesday, I’d rather get the SAK Waiter on the cupboard.  On SHTF situations like emergency evacuation or whatever, you’ll be glad to have the Mini with its can opener.

It will cut  :tu:

Personal note:
Here’s the thing — I don’t have any other can opener in a tool smaller than 84mm.  Although 80% of canned goods in the grocery these days are easy open cans, I grew up as a boy scout during an age where easy open cans only came from imported goods from the US.  In an unlikely event where we’re forced to evacuate, the relief supplies are sure to be canned goods BUT, being government procured from the lowest bidder, most likely will NOT be easy open cans.  Then again, if it’s a planned evacuation, I’ll most likely have a bigger/better tool with me.

Day 7

After drilling a pilot hole, I decided to manually drive this screw into a project on my work bench.  Gave me a chance to use my Leatherman Mini bit driver mod.  (a very simple mod/accessory that I will openly admit that I am WAY too proud of)    :D

Thank you Zephon!  :hatsoff: Your experience with the can opener was exactly as I imagined it would be since the handle folds, but I'm glad that the Mini can opener will, in fact, open a can.

Awesome report, Zephon.  I never need the can opener on my multitools, but I was really curious if the Mini's unique style can opener worked.  I'm glad you tried it and gave such a detailed report  :tu:

It’s interesting how you’ve never used a can opener for years now and I kindda have to use one every Tuesday.

Enjoy the Nanoblocks!  I hope your instructions are accurate and your bricks complete!  We gave up on the brand when we got a handful of Pokemon nanoblocks when the kids were into Pokemon.

Day 9

February 9

I tightened the plier-side handle pivots of my Mini.  It would open when I held it and give it a hard shake.  I didn’t tighten it too much though because I was afraid to strip metal.  I just gave it a slight nudge so it won’t open by itself if kept in a pocket without its sheath.

Have to admit that these wrenches are really proving their worth since I also use them on a Micra, Rebar, Crunch, ST300 and now a Mini!

I agree about the wrenches. They might be the best purchase I made last year.

Who did you buy your wrenches from? They look different than the wrenches I bought from loki.

Your posts (and David's) are very informative for me. I could count on one hand how many traditional pocket knife manufactorers I was aware of when I first joined. And though I was aware of different patterns, I couldn't have told you what they were called. I don't know too much more now, but what I do know comes from reading your posts and looking up your knives online.

Day 8

According to the date stamp, my :ahhh Mini :ahhh was manufactured in 2003.  I purchased it from eBay last year, and it was in mint condition.  So I was just thinking, I have probably used the blade on my :ahhh Mini :ahhh more times in the last week than it has been used in the previous 19 years.  The blade is looking used, but I am sure it's mostly just residue from multiple packages...

Hi Adam! I’m located in the other side of the world, in Manila, Philippines. I got the wrenches from a reputable seller in an online e-shopping site/app here.
https://shopee.ph/product/67224202/5190398001?smtt=0.25429555-1644374470.9

I’ve purchased extra LM bits from him and spare parts like large bit holders and Wave scissors.
