Forgot yesterday’s pictureDay 23No change in carry, so I took a use picture of the Voyageur trimming a couple threads from my sandals.(Image removed from quote.)Day 24The one Bad thing about the Spirit MXBS is that there is no saw if you are planning on using outdoors. For this reason the Farmer X was swapped in for today’s carry.(Image removed from quote.)
Day 25(Image removed from quote.)Spirit MX opens a box of small pouch I recently ordered, the cuben fibre ones are so light, they almost felt like air.
Day 25A friend asked to borrow my knife today and I had to ask him "which one?" Whereupon I began to empty my pockets while he stood there, amazed as I placed everything on the table in front of him. He said it reminded him of the "Leave your weapons here" scene in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, and he threatened to start calling me Max. I'm looking forward to ending this challenge so I can put away at least 3 of these knives.
Watch a youtube review on this, and sounds like it can be 'tuned'? Anyhow, it actually looks pretty nice, it's a shame the original maker didn't want to mass produce it. This totally could have been taken up by a more reputable maker and make it better than what it is now.
Day 25Spent most of the day in a training course, today. I ended up with my MiniChamp becoming a fidget toy, but since I couldn't really interrupt the course by taking loads of photos, I thought I'd show you how I carry it instead...Having seen how wrecked my LM Squirt PS4 has become while clipped to my keys, I really don't like the idea of the MiniChamp celidor scales being similarly brutalised. I don't wear jeans anyway, though a recent post suggested the watch pocket isn't a good place for the MC either. So I keep mine in my wallet. I have an old PacSafe Walletsafe 50, which is like really old, from back when Heinnie Haynes were still EE33 Tactical Outfitters (about 2006) or something. PacSafe don't make these any more, and haven't done for quite some time. The plasti-rubber branding has dissolved away and the security chain key-ring wore out earlier this year, but everything else is still in working order. It's got two internal slots for cards or folded notes (bills) and a zipped pocket on the outside for coins. The closest product to this, and I have one ready in case the PacSafe dies) is the Chums Surfshorts. So, in the card section, I have a modified card with elastic loops to hold the MiniChamp, two flash drives and a USB C to Micro adapter. I simply took a spare plastic card, put some stitch holes in it with a SAK awl, and then stitched a 2" wide elastic strip to make loops, a bit like shell holders on shotgun stocks. The loops don't need to be desperately tight as the card itself sits inside the wallet, and simply wrapping the elastic over the item you want to hold results in enough tension once it's stitched on to grip the item snugly. To finish, I simply put a strip of duck tape around the exposed ends, which also helps the card slide in and out easier, although it does stay in the wallet well enough that you can remove whichever item you need without yanking the whole thing out. OK, enough yabbering Tasky. Just show 'em the bloody thing!! And y'awl have remembering one of the best donuts I've ever had: with crumbled Oreos on top. Came from Tim Horton's.Day 26The Altimeter rotated out, and a Camper rotated in. Before and after pictures are shown. The Classic SDs screwdriver helped remove the old scales. Day 26Today I switched out a few items. Mountaineer, MXBS, Yeoman with saw. (Image removed from quote.)For the fun of it, I left in the tool card and decided it could be my daytime timekeeping device. Although my angle was off, the time was still pretty close.(Image removed from quote.)
That is a great looking knife Comis. Congratulations! I sure hope your new Fiddleback Forge knife will make an appearance in the October fixed blade challenge. What kind of sheath do you have for it?
That is beautiful
We usually do the 3 topping large for $7.99 (one pizza per person), and then you get free 2 topping mediums from time to time when your points build up.
Is there a link for the fixed blade challenge?
That fixie is another winner I love that you used the wallet tool for that, a fun and I'm sure valuable skill to have! How is it as a wallet tool? I've never had one besides my Swisscard and they never seem to end up being useful from videos etc.
The dedicated knife is a 2008 Case 10318, in red G-10.
Powernoodle Day 27(Image removed from quote.)Earplugs take up very little space in the pocket, and can save the day. https://www.amazon.com/Flents-Quiet-Contour-Plugs-Pair/dp/B004CZYJLA/ref=sr_1_10?crid=W43XBPTADRLN&keywords=earplugs+with+case&qid=1661598379&sprefix=earplugs+with+ase%2Caps%2C88&sr=8-10
Day 26Nothing much out of the ordinary today, so here's a typical example of how often I end up using a SAK to fix stuff... in this case, the bow on my daughter's hair clip: [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ] Day 27Can't help it, just have to fiddle...Stopped for lunch in the local playground, where there's a naval theme and loads of play boat things. This one is a kind of raft, with a roof and a mast. I noticed the roof had a couple of screws that had loosened, so I tightened them up... the sharper-eyed will notice they're Torx-type screws, but the ILP still worked a treat on 'em! Day 27Went back to the Essential as my fixed blade. Here it is with the Yeoman plus wood saw(Image removed from quote.)
Hmmm, interesting use, didn't know that would work too.
