 SubMY.  :hatsoff:  Who wants it next?  Add your name to the list and then send a PM with your name and address to SubMY.  Perhaps friend G-Dizzle is ready to receive the box?

I'll take a turn as keeper of "the box" if that's alright. :salute:

I've done a few different pass aorunds on different forums but this will be the first mystery one, kind of a fun way to do it.

You can put me down for that 5th slot.   :D

I'm not sure how else to advertise this box of goodies besides a flashing neon sign in my signature.

I thought pass arounds usually involve everyone getting to try out a particular knife or tool and it eventually getting returned to the person who provided it.  The Sos Surprise box is entirely different.  You get to keep your selections, and then if you have something to add to the box you contribute whatever before sending it to the next recipient.

I'll wait patiently for it to arrive...whenever USPS decides to deliver it   :mail:

I told my wife I was participating in another pass along box, and she just rolled her eyes at me.

Mark your calendar.  That box weighs almost 18 pounds, so you'll need to schedule adequate time to go through it.

I'd post a picture of it all spread out but it'd have to be all blurred out and marked top secret anyways

My apologies fellas, been dealing with a family health issue and wasn't able to get the box sent out last week.  I have the box with me and will be going to the post office today at around 12:00.

I hope everybody is alright now or at least on the mend.  There's been a nasty flu going around down here.  Your family is much more important than the box.

I went through it picked a few out, took some pictures...then went through it again...and then again.

Anyway I was waiting because of this sheath that I *think* will fit a knife I have somewhere...I just haven't dragged it out.

Anyway here's a few things that I grabbed out of the box. I pulled out this Ontario Rat, the pocket clip screws were stripped out, so I threw some loctite in there as a stop gab until I get around to fixing it. it's holding fine.

I picked out this SOG fixed blade. I'm not a huge fix blade guy, I mainly stick with Morakanivs for fixed blades.
This little slipjoint also got picked out, no tang stamps, but it looks like a queen folder.

And then a lanyard and pocket chain because I like to use them for SAKs.

Then at a second look through I picked these out as well. This little fish knife that my daughter thought was funny and this Rough Rider, it has a crack cross the handle, but it seems stable enough so I won't do anything to it now.

You have made some very nice selections.  I have one of the fish knives too.  Mine, coincidently, also came out of the surprise box. It's a fun bit of whimsy to attach to a pocket watch chain. That's what I did with it.

P.S. the sheath is supposed to fit a Mora Garberg or equivalent.

Whoever wants the box next needs to add their name to the list and PM their address to SubMY.

I went ahead and tried my Garberg and it's a tad to tight, I was hoping it would fit a Mora Bushcraft I lost the sheath to but it seems to be a little small for that. I have one knife that would fit, but I'm thinking I might be able to soak the sheath and stretch it and wet form it to the bushcraft.

Nice choices. You could mold that sheath around the knife. If it's real leather, as it looks, that's easy to do. Just put the sheath into a large pan with water and heat it up until the leather is pliable. Take it out, press the excess water out between a cloth towel. Wrap the knife in a few layers of plastic wrap, to protect it, and insert it in the sheath. Use a blunt tool, like a spoon, to press the leather along the contour of the knife. Let the sheath dry with the knife inside. After a couple of days, take out the knife and the sheath should keep the form.

Note: if you do this, it will only fit this particular knife (or very similar ones).

I'm giving it go with wetforming it to the knife, I thought going all the way and using a foam press to form it, but I'll see how it turns out without all that effort.

Sheath turned out ok, I'll probably soak it again and stretch it a little more. It's still a tiny bit to tight I think.

It's April 15th and taxes are due today (if you haven't paid them already).  You can make the day sting just a little less by signing up to receive the Sos Surprise Box to get some really cool stuff for free.  :woohoo:   We're still looking for the next person to get the box.  All you have to do is add your name to the list and PM your address to the person ahead of you on the list so they can send you the box when they are done with it and then you'll send the box to the next person when you're done with it.
