Catching up from the weekend trip to the cabin.
Day 29:
I had to work the dad magic and get all of our junk loaded into the Suburban in the morning. We got on the road and then stopped for lunch and a few groceries. So we didn't end up getting to the cabin until late afternoon. Luckily, the pond wasn't covered in scum and weeds, and the kids didn't take long to want to go fishing. My 4yo son was able to catch his first fish totally on his own. And it happened to be a 17.5" Brook Trout! Beat my personal best by almost 4"!  Then my 6yo
daughter caught her first totally on her own as well! We had to keep them to have for dinner when we got home. The Copperhead made quick work of cleaning them back at the cabin. We ended up being the only ones at the cabin this evening because everyone else got delayed until Saturday.

Day 30
We had a blast at the cabin. My kids played with their cousins and are totally worn out. I got the tent tore down and everything loaded before it got hot. The fishing was amazing. We never caught a Brookie under 14". Wylie's ended up being the biggest that we measured. Made a pit stop at my parents' to stay the night again so we didn't have to drive 6 hours home. Got cleaned up and visited all evening. Forgot to take a picture earlier, so I snapped a quick picture and my usual edc lately. Not for my own personal use, though I've included a few other photos from the weekend as well.

Day 30

My two GECs used for this challenge.

Overall, they are perfectly capable pocket knives, and both exhibit the near flawless F&F GEC is known for.  However, I’m really looking forward to carrying and using some of my other knives after two months of challenges.  And, as the rust spots on the JOTS attest, stainless steel pocket knives are really a better fit for me than carbon steel.

Many thanks to NutSAK and Farmer X for the generous GAWs, but please consider me opted out.  Don’t tell my wife I admitted this (and I’m positive it won’t stop me from buying more), but frankly I have too many knives to be able to carry any but a relative few favorites.  Would love to see the GAW knives go to folks who will really use them.

Thanks for a fun challenge, all!

Now that the Case challenge is over, I'm going to enjoy some of my other trads for a while.  Starting with this "Foreign" made penknife.  The knapped, stone blade is less pocket friendly. ;)

How are you liking that new 2318PU Rich?

I have only used it a couple days so far, but I love it.  I didn't stash it away like I did all of the others - it's in the tray with my keys. wallet, and all of the knives/multitools that I carry on a regular basis.  Thanks again for showing off yours
