Great pic  :tu:

It's very green where you live  :o

It is all about the angles  :D

If I had rotated clockwise 45°, you would see this:

So, yes, it is green where I live. But not as green as when I first moved here.

I'm afraid that if you have even a small collection of Case knives, at least one of them HAS to be yellow Delrin.  :D  Good choice with the Trapper.

Thank you  :hatsoff:

Still VERY green compared to everything I see here on the West Coast.

I polished the bolsters on the three Tribal s that tarnished while being ignore during challenges I was involved.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Will no longer leave for any period when not being carried.  The Navy Blue Bone and Harvest Orange are favorites. And suffered the most.   Made the Harvest was as I wiped down the blade, the edge bit me through the rubber glove and the rag🤪
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Day 30

Blimey, where has the time gone? :ahhh An excellent month and some excellent knives which have made me glad I've genuinely had no spare cash over the last 30 days.

Anyway, the cricket ended early today due to the weather, so I ended up finishing off some of the supplies in the hotel ahead of going to the pub...

Cheers everyone.

Day 30

My 30th entry is one that I've not shared yet during the challenge, because I'm putting it up for a GAW.  All participants that have completed the challenge are eligible.

It's a 2004 Case canoe #62131 in amber bone with Chrome Vanadium (CV) blades.  This is the sister to the canoe that McStitchy won in last year's traditional challege GAW.  Case rated the pair as B stock because of minor light tool marks on the blades.  Otherwise the F&F is very good and they make excellent users.

The GAW will be drawn around the same time Farmer X does his.  Good luck to all, and thanks for participating in the challenge this year!

The Dean51 Traditional Challenge ( Case Badge )
Day 30 of 30
Case Cigar Jack

I'm gonna close out this challenge with one of my favorites,, a cigar jack. So light and easy in the pocket today.

It has been a great challenge, and I have really, really enjoyed all the pictures and stories. Sadly, life was very confusing ( as usual ) and I was not able to achieve my 10 outdoor posts,,, but I did enjoy the couple of times I did make it out there.

Thanks to Steve for hosting the challenge,,, Sos24 for coming up with the idea for a Case Challenge,,, and everyone involved in creating the new Case Challenge Badge!!

Also,,, thanks for the GAW opportunities y'all!!!

Ending the challenge with the Pink, Digital Camouflaged, Zytel trapper 18318.  Same color as these flowers. Thanks to everyone who participated, and for the generous GAWs.  I think I got off cheap this year. Only spent about $60 between purchases and trades.

If you recall, we were doing family tattoos for my daughters birthday,,, per her request. That all went down yesterday. As a bonus, her brother from my first wife road up from Georgia and joined us. The arrows are one segment of the Monacan Indian Nation tribal insignia. It means "Came from the West and ventured North and South." I had it tattooed on my arm some 30 years ago I guess, as I was born in California and have lived or travelled all over since. Fast forward a few years and I married my second wife who was also born in California and my daughter was born in Arizona. The arrows have now become our family crest and that's what they got for their tattoos. My son was born in Georgia,,,, and is a big Transformers fan.

In order,,, daughter, son, wife and me.

Clearly the GA1 in GA1dad stands for Great and Awesome One!

Day 30/Reflection

Giving a cleaning and a touchup before putting it back in storage. For now. Definitely a knife I look forward to carrying again. I'm debating swapping it with the RR Stockman I currently use for whittling just to get to handle it more often.

This is the second or third time I’ve carried a Stockman for a challenge, and I always enjoy myself more than I expect. Having three different blades (as opposed to two similar ones as you often find on pen knives, multitools, SAKs, etc.) means you always have what you need on hand.

This month, I made myself a little sub challenge to use the spey as my primary blade. I read a post about someone who tried the same a couple months ago and thought I’d give it a shot. All in all, it performed pretty well. It’s pointy enough to get most pointy job done (although I did fall back on the clip a few times for stubborn packages) and blunt enough for minimum “stab through” risk. All in all, I think it’s a blade type that a lot of people ignore/take for granted, but I’d rather have it than a lot of the other semi-pointy shapes like sheepsfoot (which saw only a few uses this month) as an EDC. My only regret is choosing it as the “dirty” blade and using the clip as my “clean”/food blade. The butter-knife-esque shape would’ve been a much better spreader for jelly, cream cheese, etc. and would’ve handled most slicing as well as the clip.

More specifically, I’m absolutely in love with the 6347. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten so many compliments on a knife. I know they’ve had some stumbles lately, but Case, overall, still makes a great knife. Also, best website of any knife/multitool company out there. No one else lists all the exact blade sizes, handle materials, etc. as nicely. A little harder to browse/search on, but I don’t think anybody really has that down (Victorinox is closest. Leatherman’s filters are painful to use). The jigging gives it a nice grip, looks great, and handles the little dings that come with EDC better than a lot of the plastics companies use (nylon plus scales when, Victorinox?!). I want to reiterate my desire for Case to expand the “47” size line for Trappers and other patterns. The conventional wisdom that a 3ish inch blade on a 4ish inch handle is ideal for a pocket knife is correct. Small/light enough to disappear in the pocket, handle easily, and be nonthreatening (and not count as a “knife” for a lot of legal purposes) and large enough to get the job done. I don’t think Case has anything else in their lineup at this size, and it’s a shame.

Thanks to Steve for hosting, FarmerX and NutSAK for the give aways, everybody else who joined in, and Dean for inspiring the whole thing. He passed before I joined the forum, but we should all be so lucky to have the legacy he has.

I’ll probably see some of you for August Alox over on the SAK board next month. Congrats and good carry everyone!

I don't recall if you own a Copperhead, but the frame is the same length as the 47, with a slightly longer main blade.

They seem to have locked the Muskrat, which was on the 47 frame, in the vault. If so, that was (in my opinion) a bad move.
