Some very nice carries today.
I almost forgot it was Friday.  Today I have the Izula II, accompanied by an Imperial Barlow (Diamond Edge 853) with advertising stamp, and the Swiss Champ.

This is my favorite small fixed blade knife. I bought the blank blade like this and made the handle myself from robinia wood and a piece of bronze.

That's nice work on the handle.  I looked up robinia.  It turns out that my driveway is mostly that wood.  Black locust is what we call it.  Robinia Pseudoacacia.  The leaves on all of them started turning brown about 20 years ago, and the scientists said it was a leaf miner that wouldn't harm the tree.  Wrong.  All of them are dead.  It was once used for fence stakes.  It would stay for decades without rotting.  Best wishes.  G

Thanks, IMR4198.
Exactly, Robinia pseudoacacia. Even untreated, it's an extremely weather-resistant wood. We use it to build playgrounds, patios, and so on. I like this wood; it shimmers golden and glows yellow under UV light. It's pretty much the toughest wood that grows in my area.

I like that style of knife very much.  Reminds me of my Brisa Crafter which is made in Finland.

I finally switched out the Esee Izula II and carried the White River M1 today.

Gary, is that "primitive" knife Spanish? The curve of the handle and the design work on the blade makes me think it might be. Spanish, Portugese, or Brazilian.

David, the Horsewright knives never fail to impress.

I've been carrying the White River M1 Caper for the last couple of weeks.

The knife is Thai. The blade is sharp, but is mostly a 'sticker'.  Best wishes.  Gary

The tiny guard piece has been cut out of a piece of aluminum.  File marks are all over the blade.  I presume the interlocking circles might be some sort of maker's mark.  The handle is wood painted with red pigmented varnish.  Best wishes.  G

Kinda looks like something you'd carry in your sash if you were a Barbary pirate.  You're not a Barbary pirate, are you?

It didn't have a sheath, so it may very well have been worn under a sash or something.  This knife is Filipino.  They have (had) pirates over there.  Only thing I have to contend with is the Werecoyote and maybe a bear now and then.  If a bear gets me down, I can pull out a knife and cut my own throat.
Best wishes.  Gary
