So true PitCarver.
Thank you Vicman.
I did end up using a MiniChamp today to open a Leatherman Arc.
I can't help it, I like Mac and PC, Coke and Pepsi, Victorinox and Leatherman.

You are welcome FB!

Great use and nice Leatherman Arc! :like: :tu: :tu:

Day 7

Well… I had a tool failure today.

I was trying to open a bottle of Topo Chico (carbonated mineral water) at the office today. The bottle opener on the Minichamp was not up to the job!

Nice pic marlowe! :like: :tu: :tu:

Trivia:  when making my latest post, I learnt that the word "s-p-e-c-i-a-l-i-s-t-s" gets blocked by the spam filter because it contains the letters of an ED medication.  So I had to use "engineers".

Day 8

I am ashamed to say opening a bottle was once again the highlight of the day for the MiniChamp. It's a pity I don't give it more to do, but I am mostly working from home these days and the cold weather doesn't help to get me out and about...

That's because it was a screw-off cap.   :ahhh

I'm only half joking.  I buy Topo Chico by the case at Costco (a.k.a., "Spendco"), and they have screw-off caps.

Now I must go to Walmart to find this Topo Chico of which you speak.

It is Mexican sparkling mineral water, which has both natural and added carbonation.  Very fizzy.  To me it has a nice, barely perceptible "flavor" - which I might be imagining.  But I do like it.

Day 8

Another day at the office, another Minichamp tool coming up short….

Today it was the coat rack that was about to fall off the wall. The screws that needed to be tightened were Phillips, I thought they were #2 size, and I’ve had some success with some #2 Phillips screws with the 58mm combo tool Phillips driver, but not this time!

Turns out these screws were either somewhat stripped out #2s or were actually #3s. The combo tool screw driver simply wasn’t big enough to do the job. Out came the Tinker and the can opener - even then it wasn’t easy, the screws were too big in all honesty.

Again, no action shots from the office so here’s another pic of the SAKs and tools involved.

I'm only half joking.  I buy Topo Chico by the case at Costco (a.k.a., "Spendco"), and they have screw-off caps.

I thought about that last night and checked today when I drank another bottle of it - not a screw-off cap on these bottles! They were left over from a staff lunch that was catered a couple of weeks ago, so the packaging might not be the same as retail… beats me. :dunno:

What I did notice is the caps are large - they extend further down than most bottle caps I see. I think that’s why the 58mm bottle opener wasn’t big enough to get a grip on the bottom edge and get leverage on the top at the same time.
