I've posted this picture in a few places already but it's my favorite. I used a small tesla coil and a long exposure. No photoshop needed.
Sweet pic!

Well, at least we have confirmation and an idea that something will be made to remedy :salute: Thanks for the update :like:

:iagree: Thanks! Didn't realise the blade would be a stumbling point.

How are folks liking the ARC? Been carrying mine for a week. Love the main blade and one handed opening. The thick flat head and bit exchanger are great. Pocket clip is nice and overall looks. I thick the scissors are so-so...I think a design flaw with how they cut sometimes. They material tends to roll under the blades. Actually used the can opener ( which is rare for me) and it worked ok. Pliers work well. Have not used the awl, saw or file yet. All I all I am happy with it, I just don't think it is the end all be all of MTs...at least not yet for me. Maybe it will grow on me more. Curious how others are getting on with using it?

I’ve been carrying it exclusively since I got it a while back.  I’m not a heavy user, so can’t say much there, but it’s served me perfectly fine when I do.  I will say the knife seems to be the sharpest I’ve used.  Also it’s been buttery smooth, which honestly has become less the norm for LMs.  For me it’s easily the best overall total package for MTs.  The Wave is up there for me as well, and was my main carry before.  ARC is just a bit more convenient though.

Have you been carrying it by itself or have you been carrying one of your custom made SAKs with it?

Been ages since we have seen pics of any of them :pok:

That or I have missed it in the SAK Forum  :dwts:  :D

As Arc owners, how does it compare to the surge and mut? The price is limiting currently so I have been looking at modding the mut, as that is a very adaptable tool.... currently thinking about swapping the bronze scraper for a spoon  :multi:

If you have a Surge or MUT and price is limiting then stay with those 2 becuase they are both very capable and awesome tools :salute:

The ARC was bought second hand by myself for a very big discount  :ahhh and that is why I have one :salute:

Others may say different but I still say that the ARC is overpriced  :D

Is anyone experiencing the pliers getting extraordinarily tight with use? I never had an issue on the p2s or p4 I own/have owned, but this is starting to drive me nuts.  Realistically, I could swap right back to a p2 and not miss any of the extras on the arc, save for the blade. Not sure this warrants warranty repair or not, but seriously putting a bad taste in my mouth

I think its okay to love Leatherman, and collect, hoard and use them, and still acknowledge that the ARC is overpriced.  The people who care the most about Leatherman are the most affected by what is going on there.   :tu:

There are prolly many reasons for the rocketing prices of Leatherman products, not the least of which is the soaring business and income taxes in Portland.  This is not a political commentary.  Just a benign fact that may partially explain Leatherman's MSRPs going up so much that a $99 ST300 seems like a bargain.  There are surely other factors at play, especially with Tim Leatherman taking a backseat, and an apparent change in business strategy with the death of beloved favorites like the Juice and PS4 which don't have the fat, fat margins of a $229 ARC.

To be honest looking at the prices in the US vs UK, we were paying £100 ($130) for the original wave's back in 2000. That price has only increased to £105 at today's prices for the wave +.  The arc as an example is £265 (delivered as we have to have age checks at extra cost), so close to $330.

I don't buy leatherman tools new anymore....but as they are hard to find, there is competition when they do turn up.

I haven't used mine much, we got a nasty winter freeze thing going on and I've been hibernating and playing guitar.

Is it the cutters dragging?

I used the heck out of mine yesterday due to my daughter having a frozen pipe. Twisted and pulled on screws on her skirting, and the pliers are still quite smooth.

I'll admit, the only thing I've cut with the cutters are guitar strings.

This is spot on  :iagree:   plus, the huge increase in labor costs.  The only thing Leatherman can do to drastically lower prices yet still remain profitable is to outsource production to China.

I was exploring Leatherman's site yesterday and was really surprised by that.  Then again, raw goods cost overall are up everywhere.  Still, I agree Rich.  I never thought I'd see an $80 bone stock Rebar.

I was too lazy to run to workshop to get sidecutters, so I used mine to cut my strings too! Just can't get close enough to the posts to get a close cut, so I have about 1/2 of dangler on each

Hello everyone,  just a question on arc issues and help from leatherman.  Have you gone through warranty return on a brand new tool or a different route? My tool came scratched up dull blade, super wobbly handles and cutters that won't cut through 12g house wiring!! I started going through warranty repair but realized that return shipping was required.  I don't feel its fair to pay shipping on a damaged brand new $230 premium tool! I have an email into leatherman and its been 3days no reply back. Anyone have similar issues?
