Welcome to MTO; I saw your update of your EDC over on EDCF, and I have to say, that's a nice improvement. :)

Anyway, here's an update of mine, now; granted, not much has changed.

FIVE vic product, overkill much?  :D

Hey, I don't carry both the new Soldier and Explorer Plus simultaneously; granted, when I drive, I do, since I tend to have my OHT with me, not to mention a bag with a small tool kit. >.>  With that said, on a day-to-day basis, it's only four blades, and even then the Spirit X and Rambler are present only to supplement the Explorer Plus.  Hmm, on that note, I suppose I could ditch my Rambler for a quattro driver, but then I'd need to figure out where to carry that, too. :/

@ Sazabi ; I like your Widgy Bar  :tu:

Do you get much use out of it? Been thinking of getting one. County Comm sell them, don't they?

Thank you.  Yes, County Comm does, however they don't ship outside the US; http://endtimesreport.com/survival_shop.html, however, does.  The Pocket Widgy is best for a bag or sheath, while the Micro Widgy is best for a keychain.  In my opinion, the Pico Widgy is honestly too small, but that's just because I have long fingers, and with my current set-up, can get away with dangling the Micro Widgy into my back pocket without feeling it; hence my preference of using the Victorinox belt hanger. :)

I do, actually, have one each of the Pocket (in my bag's toolkit), Micro (as seen, now on my keychain), and Pico (in my Mug Boss on my desk) widgies, with a modified Micro Widgy... somewhere.  The times I've used my Micro Widgy haven't been too frequent, but it worked well for when I did use it.  I nearly shuddered when I was at a gun and knife show Saturday, when one of my source's display case latch was stuck; her partner deployed his Leek's blade as he was about to use it as a pry bar, and I quickly fumbled with my then-current Big Skinny wallet, trying to pull out the Micro Widgy quickly.  Luckily the case was opened before he used it, and in hindsight I should've just given him my Micro Widgy for future use, but it didn't run through my head until after I'd left. :/  Still, it would've come in handy then, and has come in handy as a fridge scraper, and as a general, small pry bar. :)  Plus, unlike Pocket Wrench II's, Atwoods, JDRs, or even Gerbers, these are quite cheap, won't be confiscated by TSA (hah, who knows, though?), and no loss if it ever breaks, due to cheap costs to replace it. :)

Thank you Sazabi for your detailed answer  :tu: :salute:

The Pico Bars do look great for keys but as you say probably not practical for heavy usage  ::)

Might look towards the Micro Widgy although now you have drawn my attention the Pocket Wrench II   ::) :tu:  :D

Nice

I thought I wouldn't use my pico at all but to the contrary I find I use it all the time  :tu:  :D

things I've used mine for:
 opening boxes
 prying batteries from carriers
 spreading split rings
get stones out of the tread on my boots
 nail cleaner
 grout scrapper
used it unscrewing a light switch cover
I also find it works great as a striker on fire steels
and anything I usually use my thumb nail to scrap  :tu:

I'm going to try this book binding ring in side my Maxped EDC org "that is once it arrives  ::)"

Anyway I've been using one for a few days and I like them,ok they're not to be used say hanging from you belt just in case it opens inadvertently and well you could lose stuff  :ahhh

But used in a EDC organiser or deep in a pocket it'll be fine,I've found them to be very useful for getting to something on the ring very quickly  :tu:

They snap shut and cannot be pulled apart easily, the ones I'm trying are 19mm dia which adds to a small profile  :tu:

Not sure if you'll agree with me but it's another carry option when you need to keep little key thing's together but may need to get to a particular one in a hurry  ;)

You're welcome, Cerbera; I'm just curious why they no longer make (or had a very limited run, at least) of the Carbon V Pocket Wrench IIs. :/

Well, Carbon V is no longer available anyhow, and frankly I don't think there would be a purpose in using such a steel for the intended use of this product.

But it looked pretty.  :P  >.>  I don't see why some other company doesn't purchase the, I dunno, rights to create a steel when a particular factory goes under. :/  Granted, I don't know much beyond the general types of steel for which I should keep any eye out on, compared to ones (AUS-4, anyone?) I should avoid for a knife.  I'm still a probie in that department. :P

I'm not sure if it's about the rights, rather than just the setup costs to bring that particular alloy back on the market.

I can see that argument, yeah.  Hrm, any word on how Crucible is doing?  It's just a shame stable steelworks can't purchase failed steelworks (such as Blackjack), not only expanding their purvey, but also keeping a good steel on the market without the need of any costly setup investment, especially if the equipment is still in place. :/

Problem is, who'd invest in a steelworks that failed? The underlying reason is not likely to change... and there's nothing in the steelworks itself that you can do either. :-[

True, Frog, still, I suppose it's just a pipe dream, is all. ^^;  Even though I don't have any knives using Crucible Steel in it, it'd still be a shame to not only lose those jobs, but all of their special steels, as well, if they happen to go the same way as Blackjack. :/

How do you like the Burt's Bees?  My wife recently bought be Burt's Hand Salve for my extremely dry and cracked hands and it seems to work wonders.
